When you go, take the ferry over, that in and of itself is worth it. You can drive right up. When I was there the museum and shop were not open (off season). But you could see the castle and look into the structure.

First, if you can, take the Ferry over instead of driving. Beautiful grounds. Unfortunately the interior was not open when we visited. Great place to pack a picnic lunch, sit and enjoy. Really enjoyed the stone work throughout the property. Would highly recommended.

My husband and I visited this park with our dogs on a warm day in February, and it was fantastic! The castle itself is quite interesting to see, and is a definite oddity plopped amidst a small, New England town. Plenty of walking/hiking trails abound...More

We packed a lunch and "hiked" (we have three children 6 and under, so it was more like walked up a large hill) and found a picnic table for lunch. It was an excellent place for the kids to run around and explore. Afterwards, we...More
