We stopped here on our way to Acadia National Park. The gates were locked when we arrived even though it was during the "open" hours. There was a large family group there as well and a number on the sign to call if you needed...More

Had to visit this spot as part of my Hartford experience. Some of these tombs are over 350 years old! Was near to walk through there looking at dates and wondering what the place looked like when hear graves were fresh. It was quiet and...More

I have 4 ggg-grandfathers who founded Hartford. Came here to look at Founder's Monument. Loved the cemetery. Great to visit.

I was meeting a friend downtown for lunch and wandered over to the Burying Ground. Not being a frequent visitor to downtown I have not seen a lot of the sites. This is a good sized cemetery with very well-preserved headstones dating back to the...More

This is an interesting place to spend a bit of time. The cemetery dates back to the 1600s when anyone who died at that time would be buried here, regardless of race, religion, gender, etc. It is nicely maintained. For the most part, it is...More

We love visiting old cemeteries, and this one was old. Lots of tombstones to read, and a relaxing place to visit. I am glad we stopped.

Very interesting piece of history. I think the oldest grave is 1646. Very small but worth the walk through. Was not scared, more intrigued with the writings on the headstones. Unfortunately, the church was not open for me to view.

It is amazing to find this very old cemetery right in the middle of Hartford. I love old cemeteries and this one did not disappoint.

This cemetery has graves from the 1600's forward. It is awesome. The gates are sometimes locked due to recent vandalism. During our visit we were lucky enough to speak with a woman who was cleaning a headstone and she allowed us to enter the locked...More

There was a woman working in the graveyard when we visited and she showed us around. There was a brochure which had some information about tours but I don't have it. Sorry.
