The town of mystic was cute to drive through. Lots of stores for clothing, jewelry and foods. Lots of people too. We got caught at the bridge for about 5 minutes as it raised and lowered. Was interesting to watch!

We saw the drawbridge raised as we were about to drive back to our room. People crowded around and were taking pix. Such a quaint New England experience. Don't worry if it happens to you, it is worth the short delay.

It was great to see the boats coming in at 40 past the hour when the bridge goes up. My daughter was able to hear all about the bridge from her papa who was in the Coast Guard. It doesn't last long but it's fun...More

Idk if it's an attraction in itself but the kids liked watching it, we caught it twice while in town. Plus there's a Candy Shop on the east side and two ice cream shops on the west side. Quickest we saw was 10 min total.

The physics and History alone are interesting. This iconic bridge is fun to watch, and a great tool to teach the children.

A big slab of metal straight upright when boats passed. I didn't realize it was a draw bridge seeing it from the seaport. We passed it going to the town. I wish we had time to walk it. Raining hard so we stayed in the...More

When I lived in Connecticut as a child I would see the drawbridge go up. It is still an awesome sight if you didn't grow up with it in your life. The cars wait and the people wait for the sailboats to pass by. It...More

The Mystic River Bridge divides the village of Mystic in two. The west side is part of the town of Groton, the east is part of Stonington. There is one unified zip code (06355) and post office. Starting Memorial Day and going through November the...More

I've always thought the drawbridge was very interesting. At Thanksgiving, my family has a tradition of a family photo at the drawbridge. Recently I took a summer trip to Mystic and got to see the drawbridge in operation. It is a great place to simply...More
