For a close up live band experience, New haven doesn't offer any other place such as this, all the local mid sized live performance venues are gone since the 80's. Toad's is... read more

Once you see a show at Toad's, all others will fall short. The chance to see your favorites bands right at the stage can't be beat. I can't even name all of the shows I've seen there but seeing people like Nugent, Warren Haynes, and The Winery Dogs two feet away is amazing. Beer prices are what you'd expect. Totally... More

Amazing place. Gets crowded but the it's nice and cool. Good vibes and drinks are strong. Can't go wrong. Has a back room so you don't have to deal with the crowds. Bathrooms are clean

When you were in your twenties you had a different criterion for a night out and usually that involved how cheap it was. When you get a little older your tastes change as your income hopefully rises. Toad's has some interesting acts but it is not a good place to see music if you actually want to see the band... More

For a close up live band experience, New haven doesn't offer any other place such as this, all the local mid sized live performance venues are gone since the 80's. Toad's is historical, granted it is geared for the younger crowd and the sticky floor is part of the ambiance, but there are occasions when Toad's does have concerts for... More

This place is famous for hosting early gigs of some famous bands. There are regular shows and full crowds. But the smell of beer is overwhelming (and begins about a half a block down the street). And the floor - I shudder to think of what's in that sticky gunk. If you're there though, I presume you're motivated by the... More

So growing up Toad's was always a grungy place, but that just added to the character of the place. It is kind of odd to see it placed on the Yale Campus, but it was a nice juxtaposition. I recently decided to head back out to Toad's and see what was going on. As we parked and started walking down... More

This is a destination for young music lovers and it has excellent pumice. But because of the lines, the late night activity, the area around it is a mess, smells foul and is not pleasant.

I have gone to Toad's for at least a decade and it has progressively gotten worse in terms of the level of unruly behavior by students. I get it that Toad's is in the heart of Yale country and students are well within their right to have a good time. However, there is a reason there is now a fence... More
