Stunning temple complex in the heart of Myeik. Much smaller than Shwedagon of course but when I visited in June, I was pretty much the only person there. Offers great 360 view of myeik and the surroundings. There's no lift like in the large temple so one must walk up. A must visit for anyone in Myeik.

The whole country of Myanmar is filled with pagodas but Thein Daw Gyi Pagoda really stood out. It is apparently the most famous and largest pagoda in Myeik. It is definitely one of the main attractions in Myeik with gorgeous photo spots overlooking the sea and opposite island. It is definitely one of the best places to enjoy the sunset in Myeik.

This pagoda is nice, but stands out mostly for a great view of the waterfront, a room with interesting plaques and small Buddha’s with an explanation of all the different hand positions (in Burmese), and murals with the history of Myeik (with English translations).

As previous reviewers, I would highlight the great view over the city, harbour, the sea and the island nearby.

You will be required to take of your shoes before going to the Pagoda. Take the stairs and then you will be rewarded with a nice city view and Thein Daw Gyi Pagoda. It is worth going. We went there in a big group of family for the new year trip. The city is not touristy at all so we had no trouble with the crowd during the visit. The place is very peaceful and holy. I would recommend anyone visiting the city to go there.
