Not much open during the week in October, but close enough to Rehoboth, Bethany, Lewes and OCMD to make it a good spot. if you have a dog, they are very pet friendly.

A great alternative to the busier Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City. Lots of roads off highway 1 that cut through to the beach. The city here isn't as nice as the aforementioned beaches have, but the beach is still wonderful.

Quiet beach, not nearly as bustling as Rehoboth, even during the day. Beach closes at 1am so theres plenty of time to sit around a small fire and chill with friends.

Excellent beaches. Lived that it is a dog friendly beach!! One thing that was a little disappointing is some businesses were closed. It was after labor day so I guess it can be expected.

Just spent 4 days in Dewey after being away for 20 years. We had a wonderful relaxing time. Lots to do even after the summer is over.

Such a well kept and clean beach. Northern end by residences is especially quiet. Parking can be tight. Ideal if you can bike there. We just came out for a weekend but are definitely looking into a week long summer vacation.

Everybody that comes to the ocean in DE does something in Dewey. It's our party town and during open season it's a great place to people watch. Bar after bar, food, ice cream, movies on the beach, shops, bayside for docking your boat, small walk...More

Pretty sure you can bring a cooler with food same as most beaches. Alcohol is not allowed due to open container laws. This beach would be a beautiful place to relax and picnic for the day. And if you need anything, there... More

I don't know the area very well, I only visited for a weekend, but I did see someone with a metal detector over on Dewey Beach. It will be less crowded/travelled than Rehoboth, which is the more touristy location.
