Dewey is a short drive from DC - under 3 hours if no traffic issues. Nice and quiet Mon - Friday , things get a bit noisier and crazy on the weekends. The beach is clean and the restaurants are good. Dewey has a small...More

Some are trying to promotoe Dewey as a family place and maybe during the week it is to some extent, family movies on beach Mondays etc. but expect noise, an active nightlife, bar goers, live music etc. If you want a quiet family vacay go to Rehoboth...More

There are a lot of awkwardly strict laws that are highly enforced here - parking restrictions, bars close earlier than elsewhere in the US, and a hyperactive local rentacop force - that results from the longstanding, but low-key, local vs. tourist war. This is not...More

We stayed in Dewey and loved the beach. Our hotel was run down but I think this was a hotel for the kids to party. Not to much noise, but we were gone by the weekend.

Dewey is an interesting town with a mix of summer revelers. Families to college kids enjoy the town, beachers, shops, food, etc.

Rehoboth and Cape Henlopen beaches are more family oriented, whereas Dewey Beach attracts a much younger crowd. Dewey is home to many popular local bars and pubs. Dewey is very crowded during peak season. It is also very dog-friendly for the animal lovers out there.

Not bad but nothing I would find as exceptional. There were many shops near the beach that did catch our attention. Beach itself was clean

Pretty sure you can bring a cooler with food same as most beaches. Alcohol is not allowed due to open container laws. This beach would be a beautiful place to relax and picnic for the day. And if you need anything, there... More

I don't know the area very well, I only visited for a weekend, but I did see someone with a metal detector over on Dewey Beach. It will be less crowded/travelled than Rehoboth, which is the more touristy location.
