Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Wilmington & Western Railroad is Delaware's only operating Museum. Take a ride on this scenic line and you will be transported back to a Golden Era when passenger trains rolled majestically through the land and steam whistles echoed off the hills. The W&W operates Steam and Diesel train excursions - primarily on the weekends. Special railroading adventures are available for railroaders of all ages. Whether you want to explore history, celebrate holidays, wine & dine or just have fun, The Wilmington & Western Railroad has just the event for you.

Four of us rode the Holiday Light Express to enjoy the train and see the lights. Trains are always fun and this was no exception. The coaches, warm and comfortable, were decorated with Christmas lights and holiday music filled the air. The displays of private...More

My wife and I went on one of the Autumn Leaf Special rides, one of the last of the season. Because it had been unseasonably warm throughout October, there wasn't a ton of color going on in the trees, but regardless we had a fun...More

Went on the autumn leaf special trip for 1.5 hours and enjoyed the experience. Train route was lacking fall colors but the ride was quite comfortable with the conductor providing occasional commentary and history about the surrounding area. After the ride, few moments spent at...More

The all volunteer railroad has been a hit with every child we've ever taken. Affordable, just the right duration to hold a child's attention with a picnic area midway on the trip. It is a pleasant journey through wooded area and lovely pastures with sightings...More

We ride this train 1-2 times per year. There are so many reasons to recommend the train. The station is easy to get to, with good parking. It's large inside, though the gift shop is lacking. The trains are beautiful, clean, well kept. It's a...More

I did not notice a handicap ramp. You would have to call the railroad direct. It is a weekend only operation. There should certainly be room on all dates still.
