Let's be clear, I am not a big fan of contemporary art museums. History museums? Yes! Animals? Yes! Sex Museums? Heck to the yeah! However, upon leaving the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, I've found a new respect for it. I cannot believe I am saying this, but it took my visit to Wilmington to understand contemporary art. My... More

When I arrived and found out that they have only a few gallery spaces I was disappointed. However, when I took my time looking at the art they had showing in those galleries - my heart was happy! There were many different types of artist and experiences to be had. They also have a cute little gift shop that I... More

Don't miss the gift shop in this small but fascinating museum. The exhibits are changing; we saw Due South. If you are interested in contemporary art or just want to see something a bit "different" this museum is worth a visit! The exhibit spaces are large, but the museum is small, so you will not need a long time for... More

The Center fro Contemporary arts is a spacious exhibition area with changing exhibits. We went to see Due South an exhibit featuring about 30 artists from both the United States and Italy who lived or traveled in Sicily. We enjoyed it very much but we might have appreciated it even more if it was easier to match up the brochure... More

My art class traveled here to view the art. I was slightly disappointed by the quantity of art inside. The admission was free so nothing was lost. If you are near it I would say stop and view, but I would not travel for this.

A friend recommended we go see the Iron Maiden Forge runway show last week & we were not disappointed. It was a fascinating show from an unusually talented lady. The tour of the studios after was fun, as well & many of the artists are there to visit.

You have to get past the somewhat austere exterior and walk through the galleries to appreciate the high-quality exhibits in this non-collecting contemporary art museum; Art Loop Fridays (monthly) are fun and the center has education programs and special events for supporters. I've found some wonderful, unique items (jewelry, ceramics, glass and even salad tongs!) in the small gift shop.

Fabulous, constantly changing exhibits. If you don't like one, go back in a couple months---something else will be there,
