Seeing Winterthur is a very different experience from seeing Longwood Gardens and visitors should adjust their expectations accordingly. While Longwood has spectacular planted flower gardens and numerous breathtaking fountains, you won't find that at Winterthur. What you will find is a place with a tremendous...More

Thanks for your feedback regarding your experiences at Winterthur. We are pleased you enjoyed the grounds and the house. We apologize that your experience at the Visitor Center was disappointing. You should have been directed to the Galleries Reception Atrium rather than asked to stand...More

I was tired from being at Longwood gardens that morning. The house has too much pottery. You can only view about 15 rooms. I went here because my mom wanted to go. Don’t go on Mother’s Day weekend it’s miserable!More

We are so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience at Winterthur. Mother's Day weekend can be fairly busy, and if you were at another garden earlier in the day, that would definitely be a lot to do in one day! What makes...More

We were lucky to visit on a quiet Sunday afternoon since a horse steeple chase was nearby. We had a nice lunch in the visitor center before we boarded a shuttle bus to take us to the DuPont home for a tour. Our young tour...More

We spent most of a day here. We first walked around the gardens to see the flowers and the architectural “follies” that were being exhibited. After that, we had a small lunch next to the museum gift shop, and then did one of the more...More

A friend and I went to Amish country, Longwood Gardens, and Winterthur. Looked forward to all three. Only disappointed by Winterthur. I was apprehensive because of reviews I read here. I knew I wouldn't be interested in the Introductory Tour -- too antsy to listen...More

We drove up all the way from Texas just to see Winterthur and unfortunately did not do our homework by reading everyone’s review. We paid for the introductory tour which was truly a disappointment as the tour guide (L) was scripted, perfunctory, and not very...More

A cab ride from Wilmington's Amtrak station should take 15-20 minutes. It can drop you off at the Visitors' Center. (The cafe there is quite good.) There is a shuttle that takes you to the mansion.
