An unexpected surprise!

We loved just walking slowly on the boardwalks and taking the sights and sounds of this wetland. Highlights were an alligator and an owl.

Very beautiful boardwalk in nature. Easy stroll for all. Recommend bringing a drink & umbrella for shade.

You walk the boardwalks and get close up birds, chicks, gators etc. This is a man made refuge for wildlife and is packed with many varieties of water birds.. Arrive early morning and late in the day when the birds are most active. There is a building that will help you identify the breeds that you are viewing

My wife and I spent most of this morning at this former pepper farm turned nature preserve, owned and maintained by the local water utility. There are about 1.5 miles of Boardwalk trails, wet and dry areas, interpretive placques, and a good sized building full of nature exhibits. There is a wide variety of birds, butterflies and some ground animals. There... More

All of Florida, but especially South Florida in winter is among the best places to watch birds in the world. While there are many place on the Great Florida Birding Trail to see them, one of my favorites is Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands. The day I had to visit it on this business trip I was able to... More

This water reclamation project is full of birds and has a few alligators, as well. There is a board walk that makes it an easy stroll for any walking ability. At various points on the walk there are pictures that help with identifying wading birds and ducks and vegetation. Inside there is an interesting nature exhibit and an explanation of... More

What a wonderful place for a nature walk~ We saw all types of birds, turtles, a baby owl, a raccoon and some fish. While gators have been spotted there, we didn't have the pleasure. Great for picture taking. No charge!

I have been here several times and it is always a pleasure. You will see painters, bird watchers, walkers and people that just enjoy nature. The amount of wildlife throughout the Wetlands is quite plentiful and varied. To take in the whole circuit plan on at least an hour. Unfortunately the museum is only open during the week so I... We visited Green Cay and were amazed at how this land was reclaimed and turned into a wonderful nature preserve and information center. The boardwalks provided excellent views of nature. Many species of birds, plants, trees, flowers surround the walks and tablets on the railings provide information of what you see. We saw people of all ages enjoying the raised... More
