This is a small museum but chock full of history about Cedar Key as well as a house that can be toured. It is well worth the drive to go there. When touring the house be sure to pick up one of the self-guided tour sheets -- it will make your tour much more interesting.

Museum has a few artifacts and displays which we explored in less than an hour. There was no park ranger, only a workamper who was not available for interaction with our group. The adjacent cracker house was also interesting for another fifteen minutes. Be aware that there are no seeums (chiggers) along the nature walk. Use bug spray on all... More

Always bring visitors here. Easy access, lots of history and information. It shows not only how people lived and worked in Cedar Key but what could happen if the ocean levels rise! There is a house to tour that gives a taste for life in Cedar Key in earlier days!

Peaceful setting amid modern homes, this quaint museum teaches one the accurate history of the area from native Americans to the industry that eventually decimated the red cedars for making pencils.

Such a great place! Not only do you have the wonderful museum of Cedar Key to explore but you can also go inside St. Clair Whitman's home - all at your leisure. You could spend a few hours here - really reading all of the panels, studying the artifacts, etc. - just taking your time absorbing the rich history of... More

LOVED the artifacts, pioneer home and great information about Cedar Key. The ranger did a great job explaining local history.

We went to Cedar Key back in the summer and took a boat ride over to pelican island....what a beautiful site to see 100's of pelicans. The museum at the state park is nice, you get alot of info from there on the area.

There are several displays showing various stages of settlement, and also a house of an early settler, which is really the best part of the museum.

I really like these old pre Disney state parks. Built in the '60s, it has an interesting and informative indoor museum with showcases full of artifacts, dioramas, etc. There is also an old cracker style cabin you can walk through. Fun, although maybe not for the kids that are expecting Disney glitz.

We arrived close to closing time but was still able to stroll through the museum. and they have a historical home with all the old furnishings beyond the museum. Enjoyed learning the history of Cedar Key. Would put this on my must see list for sure.
