Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

Superb acoustics!

Our first visit was to see Kinky Boots. Compared to the Phillips Center in Orlando, this is smaller and more compact theater with superb acoustics. Our seats N16 and N17 were... read more

Paid $410 for 4 tickets plus $128 service charge. When we printed the tickets the face value for each ticket was $35. The seats were in the second to last row and most of the performance (with the exception of 2 actors) was high-school level. Maybe worth $35 but not the price we paid per ticket. The performance was Mama... More

I arrived with 20 minutes to spare. I spent all of it following other people looking for a space. They had a whole section blocked off for Valet parking with very few cars parked there. But not another open space anywhere. If you want to charge for parking let me know before I leave the house without cash! I asked... More

Went to see Kinky Boots last night, great show fantastic cast,it was very well done,Ruth Eckerd hall is a nice modern venue but with no real atmosphere, the main problem is the place is absolutely FREEZING to the point it spoilt the enjoyment of the show, everybody we spoke to were unhappy with the temperature. It would have been ideal for Penguins or... More

Our first visit was to see Kinky Boots. Compared to the Phillips Center in Orlando, this is smaller and more compact theater with superb acoustics. Our seats N16 and N17 were close enough to see the stage well and comfortable. Staff were helpful suggesting post show dessert spots. We will return!

We went to a price is right live show. The show, sound quality etc was great. We got there early to stand in line and there was only one single, outside bathroom available. That wasn't a problem until the majority of the guests got there and you had to wait 30 minutes for the bathroom. They had a cafe available... More

This place is awesome. Very small & intimate compared to so many other venues and not a bad viewing seat in the house and the acoustics a great. The only negative thing is there is no center aisle, so if you're a frequent bathroom user make sure you sit towards the end of the aisle. The rows are wide, so... More

We had the great pleasure of seeing "Lend Me a Tenor" by a regional theater company at the Murray Theater at Ruth Eckerd Hall Complex. The company's timing for this fast paced, mistaken identity show, was spot on. But oh my goodness, the seating! It is pretty much stadium seats and I so wished I'd know that and brought my... More

The show was amazing but the food at Ruth Eckerd Hall was terrible. Dry and tasteless. We will go there again but they will not get us in there for dinner.

Third visit to Ruth Eckerd. They added metal detectors and security at the entrances. They don't seem to know what they are doing. Everyone had to wait in line so long as they slowly did their detecting. Kind of a joke. Once we were past them, it was ok. The seats were comfortable and you had a great view of... More

Was very put off by aggression of security team at entrance . I was lectured by a lady with a loud voice and loads of attitude as I had not taken my cell phone out. As a visitor to the USA I was unfamiliar with the procedure !! We were then shown to the wrong portal inside. Concert musically was... More
