We took an early afternoon trip with this company and saw a few dolphins from afar. The boat itself is fully covered though so it's a comfortable ride regardless of the time of day (i.e....you don't bake in the sun for the entire ride).
A couple years ago, we took a morning tour on a different dolphin tour at Clearwater Beach and saw a ton of dolphins.
The time on their island is quite lovely. Enjoy!
