Captain Casey and guide Irish Dave were the best! They can spot a manatee from a mile away. Having Dave swim with us in the water made the trip. For the untrained eye, you could be right next to a manatee but not see it....More

Many thanks goes to Kat and John Stark for a great manatee experience. We were super lucky that we came across a few manatees -- including a smaller guy who loved chewing Kay's hair! Very kind and friendly tour guides. The video instructions in the...More

Cool manatee tour.! We have been there with River Ventures for the 3rd time. We got a lot of information about the animals, their behavior and the area they are living in. Searched a long time with our great tour guides JJ & John to...More

Booked about 3 weeks in advance, we decided to go with the 6:15am trip hoping for less people and maybe more manatees before the heat of the day. We adjusted our expectations since May isn't "manatee season" and were thrilled to get to spend so...More

Wow! What an incredible experience. The staff at River Ventures is friendly and welcoming. The boats are well kept and comfortable and stocked with snacks, cold water, and hot chocolate or coffee. The brunch boxes are tasty and filling, so make sure to include them...More

Our captain and guide (Casey & Emerson) were both exceptional at finding a good spot for us to swim with and observe some manatees. It was clearly difficult to find some of the resident manatees in the early summer months as it took us about...More

This trip was everything we had hoped for, it was amazing to get up close and personal to these gentle giants! We were taken on the adventure by Rhonda and Amanda and they couldn't of made us feel more welcome and at ease. We saw...More

We took a 11:30 am tour with Captain Dallas and our in-water guide was Kevin. The visibility was poor because the manatees were feeding and stirring up the silt on the bottom. Our guide was able to quickly spot manatees and took us close to...More

My family is visiting the area at the end of June and my kids are intrigued with the idea of swimming with manatees. It's my understanding however that manatee season in crystal river is in the colder months. Is there any chance of a manatee encounter this time of year? My husband is convinced it could be a waste but I'd like to try it an interaction is at all possible. Thanks!

Sorry. There are always manatees just more in the winter. Our captain knew where to go to find the resident manatees including a very young one who rolled on his back to play patty cake. We saw manatees even by our hotel in... More

I am booking a trip to Florida, mainly for this tour. I'd love to come sooner then later, but In your professional opinion, what month would be be the best month for sightings. I know they are wild animals and don't come out at will, but I was thinking November....what do you think? Let me know, and we can't wait to book with you!

Thank you for your question, we would love to have you and all of these answers have great info to share. Numbers wise, the 'best' months are Jan and Feb, but the animals do not follow a calendar, they follow cues from... More
