This has to be one of my favorite places to paddle in the area. The small caves at the beginning of the springs are fascinating and of course the water is crystal clear - lots of fish in the area and were hoping for some manatees but the Gulf had not cooled off enough to run them into the springs.

We paddled the Chassahowitzka River from the Campground. First we paddled to the springs and everyone in our group found them very interesting as they had never seen a spring head before. Then we paddled down stream for several miles. It was about 10:30 a.m. and it was calm and the morning light on the river was beautiful. We paddled... More

A family friend took us to this area to take us on a series of walks. We paid our fee at the entrance through an envelope system. There were no leaflets available to guide us round. The different sections are marked by numbers, many of those had disappeared. We had two very short walks. Our guide will not be bringing... More

We had the benefit of seeing the Wildlife Refuge through a private boat tour, Florida Outfitters - they are great!. We took in manatees for the first part of our tour before heading out into the wildlife refuge. Lots of birds. And we even travelled out to the Gulf and were lucky enough to see a family of dolphins teaching... More

We drive around a lot on Hwy 19 exploring the different attractions on the coast north of Weeki Wachee Springs and saw the sign for the wildlife refuge. Turned in there and deposited our pymt (no guard was there) and what I thought would be a half an hour spin turned into about a 5 hour drive around the area.... More

A gorgeous area full of rich bird, reptile and sea life. Expansive salt grass marshes teaming with various species of fish and beautifully scenic inlets and canals. If you are a wildlife enthusiast, birdwatcher, or just want to get out and spend a peaceful day outdoors, this is definitely the place for you.

We put in our kayaks at the campground and paddled just a few minutes over to the seven sisters spring. It was beautiful! We got out of our kayaks and swam for a few hours. Swimming through the holes is not advised because of people dying there but there were people doing it. The water is cold but it was... More

My husband and I stayed at the Chassahowitzka River Campground for our anniversary this year. It was my first time camping and I loved it. We were in the furthest campground, but we were still close to the facilities and river. I loved that there was a nice hot shower and clean air-conditioned bathroom. My only complaint was the non-stop... More

Really enjoyed our pontoon boat tour! Saw the springs, manatees, dolphins, an alligator, bald eagles, turkey vultures, turtles...the list goes on. We had a wonderful time.
