I'm a photography enthusiast and had traveled recently to Rochester NY on business. While there I visited the Eastman House & Museum (George Eastman, Kodak, etc), a photography mecca of sorts, and saw a list of other photography museums around the country. I was surprised and pleased to find this one, the SMP, right in my own back yard (N... More

We always try to do the free photography museum when travelling past Daytona. They have frequently changing exhibits. The docent was great as he offered a tour option (but asked before launching!) which we declined.

They do change exhibits often and this is just a great place to come and relax while enjoying photographic art.

The SMP does not compare to the Eastman House in Rochester or ICP in NYC, but it is a great photo museum. Exhibits change often and range from widely known photographers to new talents. The student work I have seen is professional, creative and artistic. No camera club pretty pictures. There are also frequent lectures by photographers, critics and writers.... More

This is the largest photography museum in the South. The best photographers in the world are on exhibit here, and the exhibits rotate about every 4 months. Each exhibit is thoroughly curated, and the explanations of the photos and/or videos really enrich your understanding of the photos and their environment. The exhibits make you think and challenge your perceptions; the... More

So fortunate to have seen the Warhol exhibit. The people are friendly and great surroundings. I'll be back for sure in the near future. Love love love! A little treat in Daytona you'd never expect.

I attended many events at the former location and this was my first trip to the new building to see Henry Horenstein speak. What a beautiful place - inspirational. Great design, and the AV was wonderful for the talk. WIsh they sold the exhibit posters! It you love art, and any form of photography - this is worth it. Free... More

Located on the campus of Daytona State, parking can be an issue when school is in session. The building is quite pretty. The exhibit space is not large - it can easily be viewed in an hour, even with studying some of the photos. The photos are OK, not all are very interesting. There is a long description of the... We enjoyed our short stop here. The exhibits were interesting and the facility quite nice. It's near the speedway, so if anyone is uninterested in or tired of car racing, this is a good alternative.
