Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat...

Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat maker and philanthropist John B Stetson in 1886. Situated right between Orlando and Daytona in DeLand makes it convenient for all visiting the central Florida area. This is Florida's first luxury estate and houses some of the most beautiful and intricate parquet floors in the world. The mansion has hosted such noted guests as President Cleveland, King Edward VII, the Astors, the Vanderbilts, Louis C Tiffany and Thomas Edison. In fact this is one of the first homes in the world to be designed and built with Edison electricity and Mr Edison oversaw the install himself. This is not your typical Victorian mansion though. The owners have painstakingly renovated every square inch of the 10,000 sq foot masterpiece while incorporating today's modern conveniences. All this was done without compromising the architectural or historical integrity. Every room on every one of the three floors is magnificently decorated and every room features a different style floor and window design. There is not one room that is off limits for visitors to see on their guided tour, you get to see it all including the owner's suite and the original 1886 schoolhouse which has been lovingly restored and converted to a "Zen"like cottage. There is also a beautiful meditation garden, gazebo and pool area for visitors to enjoy. Reservations are required $20-$30 per person $10 for children. Payment is cash or check at the door and we do charge applicable sales tax.

I think I had seen something about this house on TV but didn't listen too carefully because we live up north. Thankfully, we were able to take a trip to Daytona Beach to thaw out. After getting our fill of beach time, we were looking for something different to do. So glad we found this on TripAdvisor. We began the... More

A very energetic and excellent guide took us thru this modernization project of a historic home. An active residence, it was fun to see. The neighborhood it is in is a little rough around the edges. Worth seeing. Disappointed to see that the present owners might be selling.

We read about the Stetson Manson on Trip Advisor and thought we would give it a try. What an unexpected pleasure! From the lovely grounds, stunning architecture and rich interior, it was a feast for the eyes. The woodwork, floooring and windows were beautiful. The owners clearly have done a meticulous job of restoring this mansion . Definitely a must... More

This 1887 mansion is a hidden gem in Deland, Florida. Our tour guide, Sue, was extremely well informed. The mansion is exquisite, with extraordinary parquet floors (really, really extraordinary). The history of the mansion was well-explained by our docent. The group had an extra bonus of a surprise visit by one of the current owners of the mansion, JT, who... More

It was yet another amazing visit to the Stetson Mansion. After all these years I am never disappointed. Every visit leaves me with more appreciation for the history, and the work the owners put into keeping the mansion alive. Be ready to snap pictures because you never know what will catch your attention. After your visit you can pick up... More

We were very impressed with the care taken by the owners JT and Michael to restore this historic home and make it their home. The parquet floors in particular are spectacular and the access to every room is unusual. We thank Susan our tour guide for her knowledge of all things 'Stetson' and highly recommend this tour if you're a... More

This was a delightful tour. The house has been restored with many ingenious innovations. It is a home of historical significance as well as a very comfortable home for the present owners. Our tour guide, Robin, was excellent. We took the grand tour which encompasses the third floor and it was well worth the extra money. We highly recommend it
