Great trailhead that services hikers, horses, and campers as well. Holly Hammock Trail begins here. It is a 2.3 mile loop hiking trail that's listed on the Florida Trailwalker's Program. Beautiful trail with lots of wildlife. There is also a primitive campsite located on this trail. My dog Buc and I hiked the entire loop in less than an hour.... More

Upon arrival we met Bob, our camp host, who was very friendly and helpful. He gave us a map of the area and showed us around a bit. He was probably the friendliest camp host we've met thus far! The following are some bullet points of what to expect: -Very open and close to the highway. Expect to hear traffic... More

Visiting from SC and had local Ocala friends drop us and our bicycles off here to begin a 5-day / 4-night bikepacking trip along the Withlacoochee State Trail (46-mile rail trail with termini at Dunnellon and Owensboro). Did not go in beyond the first 100 yards of entrance road, but was an excellent starting/ending point for our trip. Be careful... More

The Ross Prairie Campground is small and has no trees or grass. The trails however are great to walk. The camping sites are small and close together. The bathroomost is far away and has only two showers and stalls in both male and female. My husband called it the dungeon. The staff is nice but there is no control over... More

Plenty of hiking trails for you and your horse. Typical Florida woodland hiking not far from the Rainbow River.

We camped here for about 5 days in our 5th Wheel. The pull-through slots are a plus with water/electricity. Horses are allowed and tethered. The only drawback was the restroom. It is shared with the main hiking area and is up a hill from the campground. There are two showers and three toilets in the restroom area. Go early for... More

for Mountain Bikers ,Hikers or Horse back riders ...Great parking for the Horse Trailers . Mountain Bikers will have a rough go at first but it gets better once you get out of the sugar sand and the Horse back riding is excellent
