Learn about the nature of this part of FL through aquariums, collections of shells, mounted animals & much more. Take time to view the 12 minute film which runs every 15 minutes in the theater. Weather permitting, take one of the short hiking trails. Staff members were super friendly & well informed.

We stopped by on the way back from the lighthouse in St George Island and we were so glad we did. It’s free and so educational. Many displays are hands on. We learned so much about the area. The 15 minute video is very informative.

Interesting place. We got kind of a guided tour by the lady working there. She was very informative and showed us things we wouldn't have noticed. Very educational and nicely put together. We stayed afterwords to watch a short film about the estuary. I would suggest to anyone in the area. Especially if you have kids

Inside and outside this is a great little place to visit. Loads of information about the creatures in the area. Kids should like it as well. The boardwalk was great with a frog chorus and things to look at. Inside was very educational and well laid out.

Wonderful experience for both adults and children. Great boardwalk trails as well as a number of aquariums and ocean displays. Hard to find, it is on the left just b/4 you get to the St Geo Island bridge.

The Apalachicola Bay Estuarine Reserve the 2nd largest system in the nation. This is a review of a visit to its Nature Center in Eastpoint. The center contains exhibits on the plants and creatures of the area and aquariums featuring a variety of local fish and turtles. A large mural introduces visitors to all living things found in the estuary, from the river to the ocean. We found that we saw some birds that we had been unable to recognize in the wild and some surprising examples of fish from the area. There is also a bit of information pertaining to the historical development of the local area and information pertaining to the three main local industries that bring in fresh seafood to Florida. There is also an example of an oyster boat and an introduction video that sets the stage for hat you will see. There is no admission, although donations are appreciated. This is about a 90 minute stop that is well worth the time, especially if you are interested in the natural surroundings that you are seeing in the area.

You can learn a lot about nature by yourself. This place helps you learn more about nature in many different ways.
I liked the displays about the history of the area.
Great job and keep on doing what you do.
Thanks!

What a great find. We stopped in on the last day of our two week visit and wished we had gone sooner. The information presented is excellent and gives the visitor a glimpse at how delicate the area. The live exhibits were down due to a recent storm but the rest of the information was worth a visit. Wish we could have visited more than once and would go back.

Ran over from St George Island on muggy rainy day. A lot more there than I anticipated. Video's and displays inside were very educational and all the kids seemed to really enjoy it as well. If walking out to the lookout I suggest bug spray as the mosquitos ate us up.

It’s worth a visit on your way over to St. George Island. There’s something for plant, wildlife and bird lovers. There’s lots to see in the visitor center. Kids would have fun with the hands-on displays, (even kids at heart). The paved path is short and easy with inspirational quotes along the way. The best part is the short walk to the bay overlook. I like bird watching and there were plenty to see. And it’s free!
