Can't take pictures

This is the first time I couldn't take pictures inside the cave. Access is via train ride. This is the driest cave I have seen and probably the largest

Excellent facility. The visit starts at the visitor centre which as a nice gift shop and snack bar. The cave is accessed by a small electric train. It goes along a cliff side and then into a short tunnel into the lower part of the cave. The cave has a steel walkway going up one side of the cave and... More

If you have not had a chance to visit an extended cave with some stalactite and stalagmite activity is it well worth a visit. But otherwise you might find that there are better things in Oman to spend your time on

I heard a lot about this cave when I moved to Oman, but it was closed for more than a year for maintenance work, so once they re-opened it I visited directly and I enjoyed the trip. its about 2 hours drive from Muscat, but make sure to call and book your tour as they have a tour each half... More

After a couple of days driving through the mountains the visit to Al Hoota Caves seemed very tame. The roads there were all sealed and there was a big car park. Seats were available on the next tour. So we made use of the bathrooms (very nice) and then went on tour. The 'train' was awkwardly slow. It seemed the... More

The caves are beautiful, with easy to follow walkways, as expected though there are lots of stairs so if you have difficultly walking it could be a problem. It was a pity that the tour is rushed and you are not really given time to truly admire the place at your own leisure. If you want to stop and admire... More

The cave is a very impressive! At the end of the path you find a lake with small red blind fishes! However there is a high level of humidity and therefore the air is very heavy to breathe. Be careful, there is a Lion inside, together with bats!

The cave is very big with a lake that is 4.5 KM long. It is an enjoyable tour where you can walk in or reserve your seat ahead of time. Pros: 1. Beautiful cave and knowledgeable tour guides 2. Plenty of things to see 3. Comfortable ride to the cave Cons: 1. Non-Omanis pay twice as much as Omanis 2.... More

The caves are decent sized and the 45 minute tour well worthwhile. Access from the visitor centre to the caves via the high speed rail link provides a beautiful vista over the wadi and surrounding scenery. All the staff seem well-informed and are very friendly and helpful. The geological museum has heaps of well-presented and relevant information and serves as... More
