We spent about three hours wandering the museum and heard a delightful docent tell us about the eight flags that have hung over Amelia Island.

Twice a day, they offer a tour guide to enhance what you are seeing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and it made the history of Amelia Island more interesting. There were 8 flags that were flown over Amelia Island. Take the tour and find out what countries belonged to the flags and how long they flew.

This small museum is packed with interesting exhibits and artifacts about life in this area. There is information about the African-Americans who lived within the city and how the area was before, during and after the Civil War.

A smallish town museum located in the old Amelia Island jail, but very well done. The effort put into making the exhibits was evident. The location is off the main street of the Historic District, but is worth tracking down and spending an hour or so looking into the past of this quaint town.

The lady at the desk helped me book a boat tour which was really terrifically informative. I never knew the history of that area before.

Walk through time and Fernandina's history at your own pace, or join one of the 45 minutr focused guided tours. Displays are thoughtfully created and depict the varied subjects in a variety of media. The volunteers are knowledgeable and engaging; we will go back in an effort to take a deeper dive on other tours offered. Very friendly and welcoming.
