Visit Old Florida, where things are done naturally.San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve is a 718 acre beach and mangrove forest preserve with a variety of recreational opportunities to enjoy including: Bird Watching, Canoe/Kayak Launch, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Hiking (Boardwalk), Nature Study/Photography, Picnic Area, Swimming and Sun Bathing.Step back in time visiting San Carlos Bay- Bunche Beach Preserve, one of the few natural beaches framed with native vegetation and mangrove tunnels to explore by kayak or canoe. In 2010, public beach facilities were completed & opened with ADA parking, restrooms, fishing piers, kayak ramp, picnic tables, and a small boardwalk overlooking Rock Creek. On the white sandy beach, there is an ADA mobie mat that leads to an ADA picnic table. Bunche Beach is not a barrier island beach. It is narrow compared to the beaches on Sanibel and Fort Myers beach. This adds to its unique charm. This Beach is never crowded and easily accessible with no traffic concerns. Kayak and SUP rentals are available through the on site vendor, Kayak Excursions, which also sells bottled water and assorted sundries at the Activities center located just behind the beach.Enjoy a quiet day by the bay.

Sun was setting and I did a quick turn to watch the sunset. Beautiful colors in the sky and fun watching the ducks paddle by. A nice break on my drive home. Friendly people in the park all enjoying the great view.

a literal escape from all of the tourist. From my understanding this used to be a slave beach and today it is an escape from the tourist at Fort Myers Beach and is quite serene and a great place to reflect with loved ones or alone.

Bunche Beach is a San Carlos Bay beach, not a Gulf of Mexico beach. Parking is $2 per hour which perhaps makes it more appealing to some than Sanibel Causeway beaches where you have to pay a $6 toll. However, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. While I would recommend a visit here just so... More

I visited Bunche Beach yesterday 1/6/2017. My previous visit was Mar 2016 . At that time massive fresh water releases from Lake O had caused the water in the bay to become brownish in color but there did not appear to be any other deleterious effects. What a difference nine months makes. On my most recent visit I walked the... More

This could be such a nice little spot for beach goers if the red tide didn't happen so much. Most of Fort Myers beaches have had this problem for as long as we have been coming down in the winter, due from the over flow of the river into the ocean. The city knows the problem but has failed to... More

This is our 'go to' beach as it is not fancy, and has no attractions, but it is never too crowded to visit. Bring a bottle of water and a beach chair and enjoy. Parking is metered parking and a bit pricey perhaps - $1.00 or $2.00 per hour - but worth it.

What makes this place is the location, You dont have to travel in the normal Ft. Myers beach traffic. There are restrooms and a couple walkways you can fish from. It does cost $2 an hour to park, Im sure parking would be a problem in season. Overall was a good stop.

This is a good place to watch the sunset. Some people set up a table to have wine and snacks. It does get a little crowded but you really don't notice while your watching the beautiful sky. Just kick back, relax, & and enjoy !

Stopped by Bunche Beach as we heard the migration of birds started. It was a cool day so not many were at the beach. The sand is beautiful and on a windy the water was very calm. Wish we saw a dolphin or two but we did not. I will go back on a sunny day. Parking is limited.
