This place is beautiful. Walk slowly and try to go on a sunny day! Butterflies will land on you! This is like nature immersion. Our party included a gentleman with Alzheimer’s and he was captivated. We didn’t want to leave!

This is a visit you must see. The detail and passion that is in this attraction is astonishing. Being able to watch the scientists breed and hatch butterflies to sustain the 1000 plus population is incredible. Walking the paths at your own pace and watching...More

Within a hundred yards of one of the busiest street in Gainesville, FL one can enter the Natural History Museum and the Butterfly Rainforest. Wonder through the paths and observe the plants as butterflies flutter about you. Sometimes if you remain still they will land...More

A really nice butterfly exhibit. Much more fun than the dead butterfly exhibit. The flowers were exquisite. The combination was really beautiful!More

Honestly, I thought this was a wee bit pricey. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed learning more about butterflies from both the staff and displays. The variety was area appropriate (which we appreciated since it helps us learn more about the butterflies we would be seeing in...More

Very beautiful enclosure and well informed exhibit. Great photo opportunities as well. A little dry for very young children but for say 5+ I could see it being very eye opening. Also check schedule for when they feed the butterflies as there are greater photo...More

Several different types of (mostly) colorful butterflies are free to fly around and feed on flowers or fruit left out for them. If you smell good (sweet, no cigarette smoke), they might land on you, too. Fun for all ages, except maybe jaded teenagers.

Yes, all Florida Museum exhibits are wheelchair accessible. The Butterfly Rainforest path was recently widened in some areas to improve access.
