Very remote location with beautiful trees and a launching dock for boats. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings home was not anything fancy considering her notoriety as a great author of The Yearling and Cross Creek. We had an excellent docent who explained every aspect of home that...More

We had an outstanding tour guide - makes me, who doesn't like to read, want to read The Yearling and other books written by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.

The docent was knowledgeable and friendly. If you want a glimpse of rural Florida living during the early to mid part of the 20th century, thid is an excellent example. Well worth the $3 for the tour.

Really love traveling to this old historic park and the restaurant "The Yearling" is so delicious. Old oak tables, very comfortable settings, and GREAT food. Kinda pricey but for a treat, it is great.

Fabulous walk back into the 1030s while listening to a volunteer explain all about Rawlings adventures and lifestyle. Learned so much about central Florida and can't wait to see the movie Cross Creek now.

Those kinds of facilities are in nearby towns. Gainesville has excellent hotels and there is a campground is Ocala. The park itself is boat friendly and pet friendly. The house & nearby grounds are historic and modest.
