We visited Molasses Reef on Thanksgiving Day and had a great visit. Although we've heard that things have changed since Hurricane Irma, we found plenty of coral and saw sharks, turtles, moray, barracuda and, of course, thousands of fish. We will come again!

Fantastic diving, excellent photo ops and tons of marine life. Put this place on your bucket list. If you dive, go with Rainbow Reef, the crew there are very knowledgeable and know the best spots to venture to.

We went for a diving vacation (could not move the dates) 1,5 months after the hurricane Irma. Molasses was pretty much the only reef with good visibility, but it is large and has a lot to offer. All the small fish were back. There was...More

If you end up on Molasses Reef because you wanted to dive there (not as a substitute for a blown out site), I would give it 4 stars. Beats French Reef.

Irma did some damage but all-in-all, it was still an enjoyable dive. We actually dove off of our waverunners this time! Great trip. Water was calm and clear. Vis was about 60ft. As a bonus, we saw a few Turtles.

This was my first Key Largo diving and sadly, I was disappointed. I was told that prior to Hurricane Irma it looked no different so unfortunately, you can't blame the storm. Since the reef is protected, I did see a lot of the traditional cast...More

Oct.11th about a month after Irma the reef is sandy and full of new things to see. the hurricane moved tuns of sand uncovering parts of old wrecks and moving things around.

We snorkelled Molasses Reef on a guided trip with Sail Fish Scuba. We saw a caribbean reef shark, sea turtles and nurse sharks as well as a variety of reef fish.

Yes you can. Molasses Reef has many spots where the coral comes within a few feet of the surface, and in spots the coral is breaching the surface. Ocean Divers has reef trips every day and some spots are specific for... More
