Most people think there are only three reasons for visiting a cemetery: You are going to a funeral. You are visiting someone who's already there. You are the funeral. However, there are plenty more. Cemeteries can tell you as much or more about a place than any history book, especially with the ability to use the net to find out... More

Unusual tour for a cloudy or cool day. Also, a great place to ride your bike (no cars), or a good walk. Be sure to get a map first before going on your walking tour. Check out one grave that says, "I told you I was sick".

Very novel grave sites and an entertaining casual stroll down memory lane. The dedicated military section was emotionally moving.

Great site to visit when in Key West. The cemetery is very historic but the wildlife is a rare treat.

My husband and I have visited numerous times. The house at the entrance has a map of the interesting graves. You can spend hours looking around..Quirky.

It was a nice experience regardless. The huge iguanas were a bit scary, but made the place interesting. So did the wild roosters running around. Ultimately, we should have taken the tours (2/weekly)

Very interesting cemetery. Started in the 1840's, plots are mixed old with new with the appearance of little planning. There is a USS Maine memorial, a Cuban martyrs memorial, cool family plots and mausoleums. Loved it.

We spent a late afternoon wandering through the cemetery. We found a few of the headstones ("I told you I was sick") that we had heard about and took lots of pictures of the angel statuary. In retrospect, I wish we would have timed our visit to pick up a guide ... I think we would have learned a lot... More

Being an old Navy man, this was an interesting cemetery - the dead from the USS Maine, killed when the ship blew up in Havana Harbor, are buried here. It's an almost forgotten page in American history and I appreciated who well-kept the graves of the sailors are.
