Not my type of beach as I like clean and clear with manicured sand. So...I would not go to this beach again. Good if you just want to cool off and see some fish.

Easy to find beach with beautiful, clean sand. There is a lot of seaweed at water's edge but was only there to walk the beach so not a problem for me. Have also heard water is very rocky but cannot speak to that. This beach...More

We were visiting Key West for only 2 days but could not leave without dipping into some Key West ocean water-----and the highly rated Higgs Beach was nearby. So, how could we resist? There were not many people there during breakfast time, so we took...More

This beach is nothing special, the water is rocky to enter and has lots of seaweed and is not very clear. The beach it self is clean and sandy, had plenty of parking and restrooms. Snorkeling is poor here.

Definitely worth a visit. The pier is so fun to use to get passed the seaweed and reef pebbles. Highly recommend giving it a go. Also go to the AIDS memorial for a sunrise - so beautiful.

I am use to white sand beaches. The beaches in Key West are mostly man made. This is not a kid friendly beach. It is not a smooth transition from sand to water. It's more like a pool with stairs to get into the water....More

This day the water were very shallow, you couldn't see anything. The beach is very relaxing and it has a long pier that you can sit and catch a nice sun bath. The bridge had staircases that you can go in or out the water...More

We went to Higgs Beach to snorkel and spend the day at the beach. I was awesome! On the right hand side there is a pier with stairs that go down into the ocean. Out from that you will see the remains from the old...More

Jut a tip the beach at Fort Zach State Park is closer..... and it is a lovely beach with picnic tables and some natural shade available under the giant pine trees.
