We pulled in and parked right at the beach, that was nice and convenient. Roosters running around everywhere. The beach wasn't very clean and seaweed everywhere. Was not our favorite area during our stay. Would not recommend.

Mostly everything here smelled like pee and it wasn't very clean. It's true this is a natural beach so the locals love it but I would never go back. Avoid.

The beach is very nice but not that clean. There is playground for kids and volleyball court. There is parking area ( not sure if it's free.). Bring your own chairs, it cost 20$ to rent two chairs and an umbrella. BE AWARE, go into...More

Drove to KW from Key Largo Friday. Stopped at Higgs Beach, which we usually enjoy. This trip there was a lot of seaweed & the smell was overwhelming. Needless to say we didn't stay long. We decided to walk around the Aids Memorial which is...More

Key West is not known for its sandy beaches, but Higgs is probably the best in that department. The bonus to this beach is that there is a pier that has two different sets of stairs at different depths that allows you to get into...More

Also a great little beachside restaurant with surprisingly good food and really nice servers. Sandy water approach, unlike Fort ZT which is very rocky.

It's a wonderful little beach & Salute restaurant is right nearby. We saw a stingray come in from the ocean and look for a place to lounge, but we accidentally scared it away. Such a majestic creature.

First time I have ever gone to a beach without searching for parking. Picnic tables where we had lunch and watched the pelicans dive for fish. Also watched sailors preparing their boats on the beach.

Jut a tip the beach at Fort Zach State Park is closer..... and it is a lovely beach with picnic tables and some natural shade available under the giant pine trees.
Is the only way to get to the beach from the cruise ships the trolley or is there other local transportation?

If you are capable of riding a bike i would highly suggest it. Walking is really far and its hot but bike rentals are all over and its prob a 10 min bike ride to Higgs from where the cruise ships dock. A scooter rental is... More
