Wonderful lifelike statues in full color

Outside there are numerous statues that you can take photos next to outside the building. It's right near the cruise port. Very lifelike!

I felt that this was a bit of a rip off. No reduction for being a senior citizen!!! The ground floor was just a historical collection of memorabilia of the navy in Key West and apart from a number of colourful outdoor statues, fun but garish, and a couple of welded metal figures inside, and a number of poem illustrations,... Along side the Mallory seaport the Custom House has been restored as a nation landmark. This museum has two floors of local culture, history, the people and the events that have lead to the Key West Area. There was a $10.00 charge for admittance- interesting if your wanting to learn local culture. Worth a trip if in the area.

The museum's latest exhibit covers the 19th Century history of the now-closed U.S. Naval Base on the Key West waterfront, which was practically right behind the Custom House. The navy arrived in the 1820s to combat piracy successfully in the Caribbean and was critical during the first years of the Civil War in stymying Southern blockade runners out of New... More

Two of the main exhibits we saw were Mario Sanchez' folk art sketches and wood carvings, and Guy Harvey's sketches from Old Man and the Sea. There were also paintings by Tennessee Williams (I didn't realize he also painted). They all are part of the local heritage, and were very interesting. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to... More

The museum is located by Mallory square, it has 3 floors, unfortunately only 2 were open when i visited, it is great for exploring, engaging and learning some history. Most arts and history in the museum is related to the keys. the museum opens daily except for Christmas.

The Custom House Museum could easily be lost among the souvenir shops and margarita bars on Front Street, and by the historical designation of it as a U.S. Coast Guard Customs House, but it is a gem of a museum right in front of visiting tourists' noses. Easily affordable, the museum provides glimpses into not only the history of Key... More

Spent about an hour visiting the museum upon recommendation of friends. Good collections on WPA and Guy Harvey drawings of old man and the sea. There is a whole section devoted to the history of the railroad and the subsequent hurricane. for the railroad is a movie so you can sit down for a bit which is a nice treat... More

We were first time visitors recently on our third trip to key west. Not sure how we missed this lovely museum the other times but we were very impressed! People were friendly and informative, art work was beautiful and the exhibits were very well done. We learned a lot about Key West history. I understand the exhibits change during the... More

Informative museum with lots of history of Key West. Did you know that one of the prime occupations was ship salvage? Nice display of Guy Harvey prints of Old Man and the Sea. The work of Mario Sanchez was also prominently displayed. His work rocks!
