I was so touched by meeting Nancy and her rescue mission for exotic birds. So informative and an opportunity to meet these beautiful creatures up close. Such a little gem in key west and bringing the city back from bars and frat parties to eco friendly and conservation. She truly is amazing and we loved meeting her birds

This is one of my favorite places that we visited on our trip to key west. It was very educational and the birds are breathtakingly beautiful. I recommend any kind of animal lover come visit and learn something about these highly intelligent birds.

Kudos to Mary and her staff for taking in and giving all this beautiful birds a home. The caretaker brought out several parrots - with one or two okay to sit on your arm!

Unique spot in the backyard of her home, this older woman is on a mission to save these beautiful birds, with few financial resources. When we visited, she had 23 of these beautiful creatures who frequently outlive their owners - they have long lifespans of 70 years or so. She's a wealth of information. Don't be put off - she's... We did not expect this attraction to be as interesting as it was. At 10 a.m. Nancy Forrester, who has a parrot sanctuary , gives what she calls Parrot 101. She has rescued 40 parrots and found housing for others. She has South American macaws, four of which are critically endangered. Nancy says that parrots are as smart as a 5... More

The folks running this garden sanctuary for abandoned birds are saints. They are so ready and eager to share their knowledge of birds with you to ensure that you are not only educated about birds and their habits, but also informed so that you can make well-planned decisions if you so choose to take on an avion companion. We were... More

We had a great experience here! We sat down and talked to the gentlemen that was running the bird garden. ( I'm horrible at remembering names) He was very informative about all the birds and took turns taking the birds out and telling us about each birds history, diet, likes, and needs. I feel in love with Lucy- beautiful red... More

Support Nancy and all she does and is doing to be environmentally friendly! If you're lucky, like we were, you may actually get to meet Nancy and have... More

We had the great fortune of being able to spend almost an hour with Nancy and 2 of the rescued parrots. Nancy shared the story of her efforts to protect the environment as well as find suitable homes for orphaned parrots. We were delighted to have the opportunity to cradle a parrot during our visit. This secret garden is not... More

Nancy is a super hero that just doesn't happen to wear a cape. Her amazing work with rescuing and caring for these beautiful birds, and the time she takes to share her knowledge about them, ecology, the rain forest, and their plight, makes for an engaging visit. You get to spend time holding and interacting with Baby Blue and he... More
