My family & I rented a boat to take a day trip to the Ice Island/Cape Romano area. Beautiful site to see, easy boat trip with chart (lots of shallow spots!). Easy to pull ashore on sand or anchor for a swim, picnic or walk around near the domes. Watch a you tube video on the history of the domes... More

We had "Off the hook adventures" sail us down to see this historic home, that is now in the Gulf of Mexico. Do yourself a favor and research the history of the Dome Home on Cape Romano. It is a very interesting story, and being able to sail to see the home, and see a bald eagle, dolphins, some manatees... More

The structure shown sitting in the Gulf at the south end of the island and only be seen from the water... jet ski or boat. at one time it was on land, but tides and hurricanes changed it's use. Interesting to see but not high priority

Best visited by power boat, although a fit person could reach it from Marco Island by kayak. In the heart of the 10,000 islands, some of the best fishing & kayaking in the world. For kids, the geodesic dome ruins are one of a kind, although, now with the shoreline receding, exploring the ruins is more difficult as they are... More

These unique structures are slowly succumbing to the Gulf... google the Coastal Breeze article on it. Be careful of getting too close due to underwater pilings that are hidden at high tide.

We took a jet ski excursion to Cape Romano and found the site to be very interesting. Hard to imagine it was originally on land and also hard to imagine people living in those structures they way they present now. It was fun to hear all about this site from our tour guide. Very interesting and worth the visit.

We stumbled onto these "homes" on a boating trip with a few friends. Unbelievable. When we were back on shore, we found out more about what these structures were. Great photo op!

We took a tour of the 10,000 islands around Marci Island on Jet Ski. We went with WowAdventures.com. The guide took our picture in front of these abandoned dome homes. What a great shot. It certainly evokes conversation and allusions to Star Wars! Great FUN! Highly recommend. One caution, if you have back or neck problems, a jet ski may... More

We passed these islands as we were headed out for a day fishing. Became very curious about their original purpose. Interesting history and great photo op.

Inspired by one-man's desire to live off the grid, the 'Dome Houses" today are best understood through the power of hurricanes. I recommend accessing through Dreamlander Tours.
