The Foosaner Art Museum, located in the Eau Gallie Arts District, was established March 8, 1978 as the Brevard Art Center and Museum, Inc. On July 1, 2011, the Museum merged with the Florida Institute of Technology. A $1 million gift was received from the Foosaner Foundation to benefit the Museum, now officially known as the Foosaner Art Museum. The Museum is a gathering place, a visitor attraction, a landmark, an anchor, a catalyst for change; we exist to educate and to deliver a message that will encourage people to think differently about their relationship to others and the world; a center of creativity, the Museum collects, displays and interprets all aspects of the visual arts, particularly women artists, in ways that relate to the past, to the present, and to the future. The Foosaner Art Museum’s permanent collection is comprised of five categories: Modern and Contemporary Art, The Conill Mendoza Collection of American Industrial Design, Asian Art, Cultural Education Collection and Women Artists.Throughout the year, visitors can experience a changing selection from the Museum’s permanent collection. Lectures, Jazz Fridays and Free Thursdays are just a few events that populate our ongoing calendar. Visit our website, or like us on Facebook to stay informed of our current exhibitions and events.

Great small museum with terrific traveling exhibitions, and also good exhibitions from their own collection. Thoughtful curating, and sensitive presentations. Too much sun? Get inside, and rest you eyes on some beautiful art!

Located in the eau Gallup arts district, this tiny museum had a great exhibit that we were lucky to catch. It may not always have an exhibit the caliber of 'red' but if you're in town, see what's going on. They do a nice job and it's free. They also have brochures about other interesting events in town that you... More

We spent about 1+ hour at this lovely museum associated with the Florida Institute of Technology. The traveling exhibit we saw was very interesting and well done. 4 of us enjoyed learning about a new topic, "cochineal". The exhibits change every 6-10 weeks.

The museum is located in the charming old section of Eau Gallie, which is now part of Melbourne. The "Color Red" exhibit was the reason for my trip and it was nicely displayed in the museum, though the museum itself has outgrown its space and there is hope for getting more exhibit space. I hope they can improve their lighting... More

This is a little gem nestled on the river in quaint little Eau Gallie, one of the original Melbourne area towns. Nice restaurants nearby and sweet little art shows and exhibits.

I discovered this charming little museum a few years ago. At that time they had a wonderful exhibition on loan of Frida Kahlo photographs taken by her French lover at the time. It was such an excellent exhibition that I made another trip to Melbourne just to see it again. The present exhibition follows the use of the color red... More

This is a great place to look at art, and you won't be sorry. Yes it is small, but it is very nice and sweet to walk around. You should check it out as it is in the egad art district.

There were a few exhibits going on in December at this museum. One involved quilting, another one pertained to stained glass and then there was part of the permanent collection. I understand the need to keep a museum current with new artists and shows. However, these were not must see exhibits or worthy of your time. Will return, but please... More

I've been a member of the Foosaner Art Museum (back to the time when it was still the Brevard Art Museum). There generally isn't much of a permanent collection most of the time. There is usually rotating exhibits. This is a bit refreshing as what you view is constantly changing. There is usually a docent working that can help you... More
