Spent several afternoons at the Deering Estate. Great place to tour the houses, spend the afternoon by the water drinking wine and snacks. Great view of the ocean, historic house and enjoyable surroundings. Don't miss the annual Seafood Festival and Jazz under the stars-great events.

Second year we've come for the festival and once again happy we did! To begin, The entire setting is picturesque. Wooded areas are beautiful to walk through. The palms swaying against the back drop of the sparkling bay. Then there are the musicians that walk around dancing in their colorful costumes and stilts. Lots of food vendors with delicious dishes... More

My wife and I recently went to Miami to visit Vizcaya and the Deering Estate. The Deering Estate was the home of Charles Deering. (half brother of James from Vizcaya fame) We went on a weekday when there was no official tour. Luckily we were able to meet with a person who worked there who filled us in about the... More

Had to check out the Deering Estate after being wowed again at Vizcaya recently. The home and grounds are very plain compared to opulent Vizcaya. However, my love for the views of Biscayne Bay certainly do not disappoint from the Deering Estate. The Stone House and Cottage are interesting, but require a lot of renovation and clean up in my... The Deering brothers - heirs to the International Harvester fortune - built impressive but very different mansions in Miami as winter retreats. Both = which were eventually gifted/sold to Miami/Dade County - are worth visiting.

If touring you don't need more than an hour here, it does have nice architecture and landscape but it is not near anything and I would recommend Vizcaya Gardens prior. This is nice on the water as well but not as big or grand as Vizcaya.

This historic estate brings you right up on the bay with ocean breezes and gorgeous Royal Palms. Just when you can't take the claustrophobia of Coconut Grove another minute, drive down here for some fresh air and a taste of another era. The grounds are beautiful, the houses are nice to walk through. $12 per person for either self tour... More
