About
Pérez Art Museum Miami is a modern and contemporary art museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting international art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Established in 1984, the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) evolved from the Miami Art Museum, which grew out of the Center for the Fine Arts (CFA). The CFA opened to the public in 1984 as a partnership between Metropolitan Dade County Government and the Center for the Fine Arts Association Inc., a private 501(c) (3) corporation. In 1994, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, the CFA's leadership determined to transform this County department from a space solely for temporary exhibitions into a private institution with a permanent collection dedicated to international art of the 20th and 21st centuries that reflected Greater Miami's diverse community and pivotal geographic location at the crossroads of the Americas.

- scott rSilver Spring, Maryland697 contributionsMust experience Liminal SpacesPAMM to me, has alway sbeen about the quality of whatever special exhibit is on view as the permenant collection to me feels a little thin, notwithstanding the captions written by wanna be literary art critics reaching for meaning when often then isn't much. At the moment, both Liminal Spaces and Mariano are well wroth seeing. Liminal in particular is a whimsical and fun display of interactive installations that in itself is worth the price of admission. If you leave without smiling, you have no sense of wonderment.Visited December 2022Written 24 December 2022
- Ellie1 contributionDisappointedMy husband and I are at different stages of disability. And while they offer wheelchairs, they are the push kind of wheelchairs. We only have one son and he cannot push to parents on a wheelchair. We don’t have our own motorized wheelchairs and while we can walk with walkers or other assistive devices in multiple places, it’s ironic that Costco has motorized wheelchairs and a museum twice the size of Costco doesn’t. I am disappointed because I wanted to take my son who is home from an Ivy League school to see the Perez art museum. What a shame, how shortsighted of them to be in capable of ensuring ADA accessibility.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 27 December 2022
- david MNew Haven, Connecticut63 contributionsLoved our visitLOVED our visit to this museum. A light filled, beautifully sited (right on the water) place. Reasonable admission costs for a museum (though we were just two "seniors.") Solid permanent collection and the special exhibition, Liminal Spaces, was engaging for all ages. Note: parking is $15 in the adjacent lot.Visited January 2023Written 5 January 2023
- Luisa Salas T43 contributionsNice Museum - terrible and pricy parking lotWe’ve been to this Museum a couple of time with and without the kids. Small and cosy, the museum features contemporary exhibits by Yayoi Kusama, Leandro Erlich and Carlos Cruz Diez, that gives patrons multiples opportunities to interact with art. The walk by the water behind the museum and the hammocks chairs, complement the visit beautifully. Not beautiful? The parking lot that looks and feels like a bomb was dropped there. A $18 flat fee for and unfinished lot? Outrageous.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 April 2023
- Laura WDenver, Colorado41 contributionsAwesome! This was the best art museum I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to several. It’s pretty inexpensive considering it’s a museum. You do have to check your large bags upon entering which I’m not really a fan of. There’s plenty of museum security around to intervene should anything happen. A lot of the exhibits available when I went were multi dimensional or interactive. Not just paintings on a wall or even just sculptures. A lot of the artists used lights, technology, etc so it made me rethink art. Some used optical illusions. The gift shop is a little overpriced like most attractions. I was able to get some $1 postcards but $4-5 for a sticker is a bit much. I do wish they had a little better signage or flow. So you could know which exhibits you’d already seen. But again it was the best art museum I’ve been to.Visited April 2023Travelled soloWritten 24 April 2023
- nadam795Columbus, Ohio95 contributionsPlaying with realityAmazing exhibit by Leandro Erlich. Thankfully a guard pointed out to us about going inside the "fitting room" exhibit. The beauty salon also was a riot. Fun to play with reality there. The Kasuma was beautiful too and we enjoyed the Penetrable BBL Bleu by Jesus Rafael Soto at the entrance. It is not an enormous museum but that makes it manageable.Visited June 2023Written 26 June 2023

One of our favorite museums. We visited to day to see the the Leandro Erlich exhibit. It was amazing. Once again PAMM out did itself.

Miami should have a world class Art Museum, but this is far from even being in the top ten in Florida. Currently has one great exhibit, LIMINAL by Leonardo Ehrlich. The Joan Didion exhibit from the Hammer has random pieces of art of not great quality. Only a few pieces from the Permanent Collection - and only two, the Frank Stella and the unusual Louise Nevillson are of interest. Much space wasted by a huge staircase and shops. Traffic flow is poor. You will do better visiting: ICA, the Ruebell Collection, ICA, MOCA, the Bass, the Wolfsonian or two university museums - the Lowe at Miami and the Frost at FIU. And certainly the Norton in West Palm Beach, the Boca Museum of Art or Ft. Lauderdale are worth the trip. And you won't have to pay the outrageous $18 parking.

The museum is a ripoff-it is small, when we went 3 exhibits were closed and there was little real art to view. There are only 2 floors to view. Some of the exhibits were childish, walking thru a classroom??? Viewing blow ups? Over priced do not go.
The outside exhibit of cats and dogs was the best exhibit (free to view) and the rear outside of museum was nice to see. Avoid museum not worth it

I want to tell you about my experience with the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). I wanted to find out more information than was found on their website pamm.org about parking. So I tried to reach someone via phone 305-375-3000. No one answers for Customer Service so after numerous tries and going through many menus on the voice message, I chose the Gift Shop. I got a person in the gift shop who transferred me to Customer Service at the museum.
I spoke to Giovanni in Customer Service to ask about parking with a handicap placard. He told me that the parking garage was $18 daily but with the handicap placard and using a handicap parking space that upon leaving the garage the staff would waive the fee. I went over this with him twice.
I went there 2 days later. At the Perez Customer Service, I asked for Giovanni so that I could thank him for his help. I was told he was off that day. I verified with the customer service representative what I was told about handicap parking. She understood and said that the best she could do would be a $7.00 parking pass.
After enjoying the exhibits, I gave the parking ticket and handicap placard to the parking staff. They said it was not free and the cost would be $18. No matter how much I explained my efforts, the manager Elianis (Reef Parking) still required the $18. I paid the $18 and got the receipt.
On the next business day, I tried to reach Giovanni at Perez Museum but he was not working. Through the gift shop, I got transferred to the Customer Service Manager, Stephanie. I proceeded to tell her all of the above. Her answer was thank you for letting her know and she would make the staff aware of the conflicting handicap parking procedures. I asked for the return of the $18 charge and she refused and thanked me again. I asked for replacement parking passes for future visits – again she refused.
So I wanted to let the community know:
1. You cannot reach Perez Customer Service without going through the Gift Shop option on the voice menu system.
2. What you are told by museum personnel (I was told information from 2 people) might not be correct.
3. The Customer Service Manager says thank you for letting her know. Through my several attempts, she did nothing to fix the error.

We visited in late May and thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and the gallery
We were extremely lucky that the Leandro Elrich display was on as it was fabulous (it’s on until September 2023)

The major museum in Miami, but without many of the pieces you would find in a typical anchor museum that has a bit of everything for everyone. In that way, it’s very Miami. There was an absolutely fantastic interactive art installation that was easily worth the price of admission called Liminal by Leandro Erlich. It's only there until September 4, 2023 - so we'd recommend a visit before then! The rest of the museum isn’t bad at all, but leans towards the modern. If that's your taste, then you’re likely to enjoy it. One note is that there is a parking garage, but it was listed as full when we arrived. They give you a deadline of 10 minutes to try and find a spot and we did, but it could’ve been better organized (and not an additional $18). Regardless, the museum was enjoyable. Don't miss the outside art as well - the Dogs & Cats Walkway was especially lovely.

Always great exhibitions, this time Kusama and Leandro Erlich were my favorites. But the whole collection and exhibition is really good and can compete internationally. Really one of the few highlights in Miami (which is in general getting more and more down, but the PAMM is a nice exception).
Highly recommended for art lovers.

Pérez Art Museum aka PAMM breaks the mold when it comes to experiential art. This is not your run-of-the-mill artsy gallery. No sir! This place is a slice of mind freak art that could make Criss Angel jealous.
Make sure to experience the Kusama room-size exhibition “Love Is Calling”. In addition, once you finish visiting the museum, don’t forget to exit through the gift-shop to see the outdoor swimming pool by Leandro Erlich.

It closes at 6. They don't say a final entry anywhere. We saw some students come and go within a 20-30 minute period. We were there an hour. If you read every single sign or posting you could easily be there for 2 hours. There are also lots of neat sculptures on the grounds near the museum and parking garage.

I would also concur with others who recommend a taxi.
Once you are there, I would ask at the desk what they would
suggest for getting back. If you spending more time
downtown after the museum, there is a circulator bus.
Enjoy!
