Nestled on five acres of native Florida landscaping, our flagship museum at the County Government center in Naples offers newly created exhibits and galleries that capture the full panorama of local history. Pack a picnic and linger a while in the museum's shady backyard. Then do a little exploring on your own in our native gardens, restored Naples cottages, the archaeology lab, Seminole village or Calusa Indian camp.

Enlarged twice, the museum's main gallery offers over 10,000 square feet of new displays, plus a traveling exhibit room, lecture hall, and gift shop.

I was pleasantly surprised at this hidden little gem, tucked near the County jail and Courthouse. What I thought may take an hour (up to an hour and a half), ended up being half the day. So much to read, see and take in. The grounds are also very cool with much historical relevance. I've been to several of the... More

There are many places which will educate you on history of Florida but this one will provide a great deal of detail on South Florida history. Learn about the lives of the native population, early and later settlers. See examples of early housing within a shaded walk-about.

This museum Is well laid out and an easy self walking tour. Wear sensible shoes as the outside goundsmcover about 5 acres. They are beautifully manicured and have many native plants. There is a well organized air condiditoned inside museum showcasing prehistoric mammals, it and includes the Calusa, the native peoples who were here when the Spaniards arrived. CAttle ranching... This little museum delighted me with its' attention to detail. Although Naples had been inhabited for a relatively short period, it has a lot of history.

An adventure in history. Old buildings, boats, Indian settlements, dinosaur skulls, and good places to run. Kids can begin to see earlier times in Florida from interesting collections and memorabilia to spark their interest.

I planned on staying a couple of hours and ended up being there six hours. It has exhibits inside and out with space for children to run off some energy.

This beautifully presented museum was filled with interesting facts and displays about how the area developed. It was easy to read and take in the ino and we all enjoyed it, from the youngest to the eldest. It was set in a lovely room - and outside the grounds were huge - a tranquil oasis in the midst of busyness!... More

We had pretty low expectations but were really surprised at the quality and amount of displays. We spent far more time than we thought given that there was so much to see. A fascinating insight into the development of the area and a must see if you are in the area. I hope that the local authorities continue to fund... More

We have been to Naples several times but only discovered this place this year. As a free museum it was interesting and although small was worthwhile to visit. Walking through the outside area we did get a few insect bites so bug spray would be recommended.
