Great hiking trails varying different levels as well has great kayaking. You are almost guaranteed to see wildlife (including monkeys) and the water is very refreshing in the summer Florida heat.

Silver Springs River (park) is a historical little gem. Walking trails, boat cruises, kayak rentals, walking trails. This place has a lot to do. Food and snacks available and a little museum in the park. Worth the minimal admission fee.

Took many a trip up and down the Silver Sprigs River (Silver River) to the Head Springs that was once the Silver Springs Attraction now a Florida State Park. If you decide to canoe or kayak there is a mild current to deal with. Launching is easy with county park boat ramps with docks. Unfortunately the Monkeys from the original... More

Rented a canoe and paddled down the Silver Springs River to where it comes up from the underground spring. Enjoyed seeing alligators, turtles, birds, and Rese monkeys. Was very relaxing and enjoyable.

We hired a a tandem kayak and I'm so glad I didn't have one by my self as I didn't realise there was alligators ,having said that it was an experience I wouldn't wanted to have missed ,it was amazing ,scary and beautiful at the same time .

Embarrassing as it is to admit it, we lived in Ocala for over 30 years before we discovered the Silver and Oklawaha Rivers! We've visited Silver Springs many times, both when it was an attraction and now as a state park, but the two rivers didn't come into our purview until we were involved with Boy Scout canoeing and campout... My sisters enjoyed kayaking on the river. My cousin and i too the glass bottom boat tour. the guide was pretty monotone throughout but the water was as clear as advertised and we saw a lot of fish and wildlife. The little museum was very interesting. Pictures and stories of the tV shows and movies filmed there. also, picures of... More

We are new to kayaking and I cannot imagine there could be a more beautiful spot. We did a 5.5 mile paddle down the Silver Spring River and were just blown away by the wildlife we encountered. At least 6 alligators, more than 75 monkeys, river otters, turtles in the hundreds, many varieties of beautiful birds. We were told that... More

We went there during the week, early morning, and found that it was very tranquil. Bring your walking shoes as they have some very nice trails you can follow. Some little stores and restaurants to keep you busy while waiting for the glass bottom boat ride. While we were there we saw an otter playing in the grass. The people... More
