Orlando Science Center has been a family favorite for over a decade but is now at the bottom of our list. Sadly, they force everyone to wear face masks despite whether they have medical conditions that prevent them from wearing masks. Sadly, we canceled our membership and will not be back to OSC until they do away with mandatory masks.…

My wife and I decided to visit the Science Center for the first time to view the Pompei Exhibit. Parking is quick and easy and you have to enter the facility thru the 2nd floor parking lot bridge. Before you enter you are required to have your temperature checked and you are required to wear a mask. The Pompei Exhibit is a must see event full of entertaining exhibits and well worth the price of admission. We also caught a movie in the domed theater and explored the rest of the museum which is geared for children. On the ground floor they have an exhibit of live reptiles where we caught a glimpse of Lucky the Turtle who spends his free time eating ice cubes. One side note this facility does a great job of making sure the everyone wears there mask properly ( that includes the people who have a mask on their face but don't cover their nose, otherwise known as reindeers). Jolly Chris…

We've been to the Orlando Science Center several times in the past and have always enjoyed it, but this time we went specifically to see their special exhibit on Pompeii, which is only being shown in three museums around the US. I had been to Pompeii, Italy, before and was fairly familiar with its story of being destoyed by the Vesuvius volcano, but we learned far more from this exhibit than I ever learned in Pompeii itself. They brought a number of actual frescoes, home wares, tools, statures and parts of homes directly from Pompeii for the exhibit and had really wonderful, informative movies about the city before, during and after the volcanic explosion. They really helped you to feel the enormity of the tragedy like you were there- so very well done. We strongly recommend anyone who has the time and interest to see this exhibit while it is still in Orlando!!…

Checked out this place on the recommendation of a friend. And while I’ve been limiting my patronage to places that don’t require masks, I wanted my son to spend time with our friends and they wanted to meet here. So we brought our face diapers and braced for a barrage of “we’re just trying to keep everyone safe” nonsense. Parking was easy enough. But keep in mind they have all the entrances at ground level blocked off “for your safety”. So you have to enter the building from the second level of the parking garage. There you will be greeted by an attendant who is far too eager to put a mask on very young children, asking children that couldn’t be older than 2 “how old are they”. And in spite of the fact children are not carriers nor at risk of the virus, they still have to be temp checked. It’s about as anti-science as you can get, but what do you expect from a place that has a multi-gender bathroom option. How many genders does science say there are? Anyways. And if you think I’m being to hard on them, I follow the covid stuff very closely. Florida is in stage 3 opening, masks are no longer required, and capacity limitations have been lifted. And that decision was based on actual data. So some businesses are just ignoring that and still requiring masks and social distancing. It’s just an unnecessary way to hassle guests. Just make masks optional and done. The facility is nice. Lots to see and do. I especially enjoyed the floor with the Dinosaurs and Christmas lights. We checked out the Pompeii exhibit and enjoyed it. Very well displayed with a nice pre-show. I will say this, that even though I was approached once to put my mask over my nose, I wasn’t stalked to insure compliance. That would’ve been an issue. We did the nature walk. Kids loved it. Especially when the snake handler brought out the python. It was my sons first encounter with a live snake, and he was thrilled. We also watched the Volcano movie in the OmniDome. About halfway through the kids got bored so I finished the movie by myself. But I’ve always enjoyed OmniDome presentations since I was a kid. Several attractions are closed “for your safety”, but we still were able to easily fill several hours of breathing obstructed family fun. We will come back again, but not until they’ve begun compliance with phase 3 reopening and ADA law.…

We've never been to the Orlando Science Center because we knew it was aimed at kids. But with the Pompeii Exhibit it was very interesting to see...it made us think about planning a trip to Italy! The only downside were the many interactive, hands--on activities there. One room had no hand sanitizer outside the room as you entered. We finally spotted some located on a wall somewhat hidden inside the room. Kids are walking germ factories, and a museum employee should have been posted at the door dispensing hand sanitizer as you enter. So, we passed on all the hands on displays, which there are many. I suggest you bring gloves.…
