This review is less about MK and more about Genie+ and lightning lane. MK is still the same fun park and the castle is beautiful now to celebrate the 50th ! However, long gone are the days of meandering through the park and still being able to ride everything. So, is Genie + and lightning lane worth the trouble? Yes BUT you still need to have a plan, know where everything is located and what typical wait times are in order to take full advantage of it. If you do your research which is easy because plenty of info exists out there. And if you only use Genie + and lightning lane to book “must do and popular attractions” it can restore some of the relaxation back into your day. Once you get used to the app it is easy to use. Genie +, lightning lane, dining reservations and mobile ordering do make the day less stressful.

It's a magical place. But with a lot of "it i
sn't quite the same as yesteryear." Overall, had a great time. I didn't have to mess with genie+ or LL. My kids did! We used both. There's good and bad to those experiences.

People have been complaining about bad service, trash all over, long lines, huge crowds, etc. We had a great experience. We went in mid December on a Saturday afternoon/evening. We may have been very lucky.

I used a scooter. I got a few dirty looks, but otherwise no problems, except that scooter coming to a dead stop a lot. All rides accommodated my scooter but 1. I transferred to a wheelchair, then walked. All CM's were helpful and patient.

I was determined to do Space Mountain. My favorite for years. And I did it! Took a bit to get out of my car, looked a bit ridiculous, but who cares!! Loved it. Enjoyed all the rides we went on.

The castle was beautiful at night with the color changes. The fireworks were nice, but I didn't think that powerful or magical. We watched from behind the castle with friends.

I got a red Micky Mouse balloon. I kept it for 2 days, then gifted it to a little girl, which brought me great enjoyment. She was so excited!!

A wonderful day with my grown kids!

I'll probably go to hell for saying this, but the Magic kingdom was disappointing. We spent a lot of money to go there, factoring in hotels, transport, etc, and what a waste of money. Our expectations were huge, and after a very long day we left thinking once was more than enough. We did love the castle lit up at night and the fireworks were really cool, but that was it. Some of the rides and attactions were so old and poor, we felt like we stepped back in time. Huge wait lines for everything, food so expensive, hard to get to the park without doing lots of walking, especially if you don't have a car. There are no direct public transport transfers to there, you will have to change over somewhere else at least once.

Disney's reputation stands for a reason. Somehow, even standing in line, you feel happy here. Seeing the kids' joy and discovery was worth every penny. Almost zero complaints from the kids (that is very unusual). Just a fantastic time with rides, shows, everything.

We were loyal Disney customers, went to the parks many times in the past and some cruises. Used to love it and were happy to pay the premium prices associated with Disney.

A year ago we decided to take my grandson for his first Disney experience and we are right now on the second day of 4. I was shocked to discover how much they managed to ruin the Disney magic in just a few years. So many things are going wrong.

These are just some:

- Misleading advertizing about their COViD practices. If you read their website they get the impression that they are much more aggressive at COViD prevention than Universal or Legoland parks... but they are not. They did not enforce their COViD rules, and I could have understood that (to avoid conflict) if their disregard wasn't so blatant. I also saw several unmasked staff members. But the worst was how they tried to push people to ignore the 6' distancing and instead make us stand shoulder to shoulder (the worst example of this was the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom).

- In past visits most rides had reasonable lines and a bad one was 45-60 minutes, and you could use a fast pass to avoid those few long lines. But since then they changed their ticket sales quotas and their "fast" lane system. Now - even on the slowest week of the year - typical line is 45-60 minutes, a long one can be over 2 hours, and what is worse... you can't even pay extra and be certain of a good experience. They have two "fast" pass system and neither is usable. The Genie+ that we tried yesterday at Magic Kingdom consistently showed every ride we were interested in available only 4-5 hours later, and you can only have one ride in your list at a time. The net result is that we paid $75 (for our group of 5) and we're not able to use it even once. Today at Animal Kingdom I gave up on Genie+ and used their other fast system to get a reservation for one ride. I started trying to get a reservation at 7AM and after one hour I was finally allowed to make a reservation... for 7PM. Needless to say that we were done with the park around 4pm and had to wait 3 hours to use our reservation... even though it got very cold, people were leaving the park early and I am certain that a bunch of people just blew off their reservations, so they went unused.

- In the past staff members used to go out of their way to make your day magical. Now even when they would like to do it they aren't allowed. One of the cast members even expressed her frustration about it, since this is a very common problem and she hated that she can no longer fix issues.

The net results of all the changes is a miserable experience, even if you were willing to pay extra.

My recommendation for all is to avoid Disney World until/unless they fix this mess. After a lifetime of great Disney vacations I am done. The other parks and cruises offer FAR better service.

If you are looking for characters hanging out all over the park you are not going to find that anymore. The reason for going to Magic Kingdom is to find the characters and let the littles interact with their favorite or not so favorite characters come to life. Unfortunately you won’t be able to do that now. Yes they have parades but it is not the same experience as before. Yes you can see some of the princesses if you wait in line. No you cannot eat with characters. Magic kingdom has tried to do the best they can with all the restrictions but it is now an overpriced park. My advice is get a park hopper and do another park and then go to Magic Kingdom in the late afternoon to see the park and watch the fireworks.

This 50 year celebration turns out to be a sore reminder of rides in desperate need of repairs. The days of buying a ticket to enjoy the park are long gone. You have to do your research and be glued to your phone. We made our lunch reservations as soon as it was allowed to only have one option that turned out to be price fixed at $40 per adult defined as 9 years old and above (Liberty Tree Tavern) Sure it was better than average, but so expensive hard to enjoy. The other low reviews I completely back up. We were just about to board Pirates of the Caribbean and closed due to mechanical issues. No customer service whatsoever. Then Same terrible experience at the Dwarf Roller Coaster.

I really don’t see why Disney parks get a good reputation. I have had nothing but bad experiences. Wait times are always unreasonably long due to the fast-pass system and non-existent park capacity limitations. Cast members and customer service do not prioritize your experience to help you have a “magical day.” In fact, their main priority seems to be to do nothing. As an example, I waited over 2 hr for he Dwarves Mine ride due to a break down, and 1.5 hr of that wait was them stringing us along saying we have the option to leave or stay, but we were not offered fast passes to return at a later time. We never got to ride the ride. To me, that is the definition of horrid customer service and an extreme lack of care. For me, and I am assuming for many others, Disney parks are a one-and-done experience that you can’t wait to never do again.
Please change, Disney. Otherwise, you truly don’t deserve the reputation you have.

After spending our first day in Universal Studios (which was great) we spent our second day in Orlando in Disney's Magic Kingdom. We have been in Disneyland Paris and had a great day there a few years ago. Sadly the Orlando experience was a complete waste of money. Firstly when compared to Universal every attraction is dated severely. Huge lines to every attraction when compared to Universal also. We spent an hour queueing for space mountain only to be told the roller coaster had broken down and we had to exit. Nothing was offered to us in the way of a fast pass for the attraction later in the day it was just tough luck you have lost an hour of your day in Disney. This happened again on the seven dwarfs roller coaster only we didn't wait an hour, we just left the queue when it stopped moving and eventually checked on the app later to see it was also broken down. All restaurants booked up too through a terrible booking system where you can book tables in all restaurants at the start of the day and then show up to whichever one you like later, this seemed to be what was happening as we sat outside one of them for 20 minutes and they called at least 5 names for reservations that never showed up. We ended up leaving the park early so that we could go and do something else with what was left of our day. 100+ dollars we will never get back. I will never be back in any Disney park. Terrible.
