We went as a family for a day of tubing down the river. Water was cool for the heat of summer so it was nice. Even though the park had lots of cars the river was quiet and we could really enjoy our time on it. Highly recommend. Just check yourself for uninvited hitchhikers after you get out.

There are plenty of places to visit in this area whether you prefer nice, cultivated camp grounds or primitive areas. Hiking trails, lakes to swim in, rivers to tube, kayak or canoe in... a wonderful place to take the family.

Traveled with my husband and kids (10 and 15). My 15 yr old son went for the kayak while the 3 of us canoed down the river. It is a self guided tour, at your own pace. I would recommend getting there early so you can enjoy the beaches. Bring a picnic basket, snacks, towels, etc... anything that you would... More

Had a great time with the hubby and our fur baby canoeing down the river. I was so surprised they were okay with pets! That's so hard to find.

We came to the park to end out kayaking trip. We left one vehicle here and took the other up river. The river is dark water, but it provides several sand bars for swimming. I live the picnic area. Showers and pavilions are available. Great place to spend the day.

This is the only white sand, black water combo in the country! It is absolutely stunning and so much fun. They offer tube, kayak, and canoe rentals with drop off and pick up points. You can spend a couple hours to a whole day exploring the waterways and vegetation of this special state park. FYI: this is one of the... More

This has great areas for camping and the river tubing is a blast. This is a great way to get the family away from cell phones and video games. The river is for the most part clean and worry free. It is a relatively inexpensive way to forge family memories for life.

Several places to rent canoes, kayaks or inner toobs; I would suggest Adventures Unlimited for rentals. Be prepared for a drive but worth the trip.

Beat the heat instantly by jumping in the Blackwater river! Rent a cabin or camp site and enjoy an evening listening to frogs and crickets and owls hooting in the background! Get up early and catch a canoe trip down the river for several hours and the boat bus will pick you up and bring you back to camp. Be... More

If you like water and kayaking or canoeing you should rent a canoe and go for it. River is not wild at all so can have nice weekend with family and kids.
