It was a good walk and that's about it. The gate was locked to enter the fort so all you could do is view the outside. You could get the same experience by driving by this place and looking out your car window.

If you like history, then this a good place to stop at. The history of the fort and how it was built and who operated it is well explained by the staff. The tour is self guided and you can spend as much time as you want. You can see how the fort was positioned to help ward off attacks... More

I have been to many national parks and this one is great. It isn't too big that you get overwhelmed with everything. We lucked out and were the only 2 people for a tour. The information presented during the tour was so much more than could have been gleamed by reading or walking around. Over all s great experience.

Located just a short walk from the aviation Museum, the Fort is a NPS fee site. Unless you have a pass it is $7/person or $15/car. The visitor center has a short 10 minute film to view, then you can explore both Fort Barrancas and the Spanish water fort. There are a couple tunnels that must be utilized to go... More

First, let me tell you if you use Google maps to get to the Fort it will take you on to the navel base. Second, be prepared to answer 50 questions and show ID. Third, you will be given a piece of paper that MUST BE DISPLAYED int your car window. If you read it it say that you (bearer) give... More

This is a great place to learn more about Pensacola's history. Theres lots of stairs and I'd suggest touring would be better in any month but summer for seniors or handicapped. Be sure to take some water and good walking shoes.

Take the time to step back in time and enjoy the history of America's conflicts of the Spanish American War, the battle between the Spanish and the French, and our very own Revolutionary War. The residential structures, long dark maze of hallways, holding cells, cannon ball impact points, the sites for lookouts watching the waterfront as the enemy approaches .... More

Historic fort with guns and cannons. Even a restored gunpower room. See what the Spanish saw in Pensacola with this great view of the pass and Gulf of Mexico.

We spent about 45 minutes walking around this fort and learning some history. Love the old architecture. The self guided walking tour brochure gives you enough information to make the old fort come alive. The walking and steps are fairly mild. Definitely bring some water during the hot months as you are unprotected from the sun while on top of... More
