I was at the range today. An old man put a pistol behind the line on a seat bench. The range officer told him it had to have an open action. He picked it up pointed it at another shooter and opened the action. I cringed. The Range officer acted like this was just fine. Its a wild west place... More

Large area to drive thru. We picked up a map at the entrance but it wasn't very helpful. We drove the paved road and saw 1 alligator on the side of the lake. Tried the dirt roads and saw nothing but trees and dried vegetation. Guess if you want to hike or bike this place is good but for a... More

We visited mid day and thus did not experience the larger number of birds that are often seen here. When you first enter, there is a rustic kiosk with maps and the permit you need to purchase to visit. $6 per car. $3 per individual if walking or riding a bike, etc. Nearby are bathrooms. Apparently no others in this... More

It was kind of hard to figure out the first time I went, but there is a little station that you stop at and put money in an envelope and then put the stub in your windshield. I think it is 3 bucks a person and then there is a discount price for a car full. The fee is to... More

Stopped to check out the bird watching. Depending on the time of day a variety of birds may be sighted. Public camping in designated areas. No hook ups. Public restrooms are pit type but very clean. Fishing permitted with FL license. No gasoline powered watercraft permitted. Firing range on site. Paved road around the East side of the lake with... More

This area is excellent for birdwatching. You pay at a machine to enter the area and then can drive around the roads/tracks looking for wildlife. We always love our time spent here.

We went to Babcock-Webb to go birding and take a drive. The woman at the gate was very friendly and helpful. She gave us some ideas where to go as well as a map. The place is huge with lots of roads to explore. It turned out we showed up on a long weekend during hunting season. There were swamp... More

Went shooting with my family for the weekend. We felt extremely safe with the management there, in fact it seemed like extra safety precautions were taken. Great way to spend an afternoon with the family if you like to shoot.

This is without a doubt one of the worst public shooting ranges I have ever visited. (and dangerous).1 RO for over 100 shooters. 1/2 dozen using one shooting lane. Full automatics. Empty cases by the hundreds all over the floor. No waiting order. Arguments as to who is next for a lane. Shooters went into a lane and no cold... More

Went shooting with Son-in-Law and Granddaughter. Wonderful experience! The range is well managed, no fooling around tolerated for safety. We shot at the 100 yd rifle range, sighting in new weapons. If you are new to rifle shooting, bring ear plugs, protective eyewear AND earmuffs. You supply targets, so bring them and a stapler! The shooting benches are under cover... More
