Historical fort

I enjoyed the history of the fort. Good tours for children .several school groups were there when I was there. The tour guides were jamming it up for them.

This is a part of the Federal Park System. $10.00 to enter. Loaded with history and artifacts. There are free park ranger tours available threw out the day. These tours are very informative. The only negative is parking. $6.00 for 4 hours, which is not bad, but the lot is full of many others visiting the old historic district of... More

The park rangers do a fabulous tour about the life and times in early St Augustine. There is a live cannn firing that can be experienced in or out of park. Fun for whole family.

When on a trip to St. Augustine, FL it would not be complete without a visit to this old fort. The place is full of history of the Civil War days and you can see chambers and rooms that are kept in the style/condition they were when soldiers stayed in them back in that era. The admission price is very... More

Visited the Castillo de San Marcos on our first day in St. Augustine and were lucky to get there just in time for the cannon firing demonstration as we well. Enjoyable.

We enjoyed the tour very much. We learned a lot about the days of the fort from the guide, and I have to say, I am glad I wasn't there. Probably wouldn't go back again, but everybody should see it once. Very interesting.

This deserves all the good ratings. The fort is a brilliant creation. Never defeated. The park service does a great presentation + film + the views are breath taking. The self guided tour is amazing.

Established in the mid 1500's, this Spanish settlement had to rely on time-tested European fortifications including a Castle and city walls. Because the Castillo De San Marcos was built to shelter the town's population during war, it is officially a castle although it is shaped much like an American Fort. Hey, it has a moat and a really cool drawbridge,... More
