Description:

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis....

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis. We are not open on a daily basis like a large zoo, although we do offer two-hour tours, reserved in advance. Tours are held in the afternoon, usually on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 2pm. Email as far in advance as possible to make reservations. Children under 5 are free. We may be able to schedule a tour on a different day, if we know far enough in advance.

Guests will be given a guided tour of the 7-acre animal compound by an experienced wildlife professional. An introduction to each species, basic biology, and how the species arrived at our sanctuary will be discussed in detail. Visitors will be allowed a close-up view of the exotic animals. Guests will be able to venture closer to adult African lions than they ever imagined. Also on the tour will be our amazing white tigers, several orange tigers, a very rare golden tabby tiger, cougars, servals, lynxes, leopards, hyenas, coati mundis, and a host of wolves ranging in color from black to white. We also have a large bird collection, which includes conures, macaws, Amazon parrots, lovebirds, and even parakeets, cockatoos, cockatiels, doves, quail and finches. We feed all of the big cats on the tour on most days, and set up a tiger bubblebath for one pair of tigers. We do not allow photography at this compound, however, we do offer a fabulous photo CD at the end of the tour for a small donation. You may photograph our beautiful peacocks, lovebirds and conures, which are outside of the compound near the guest waiting area. Thank you!

There is something to be said about such a nice facility housing rescues and actually doing it the right way. From the moment I met some of the employees you could feel there love and passion for the animals they cared for. Please keep up the great work and I will continue to visit/donate to keep this place going strong.

This place is amazing! I don't know who loved it more...my kids or me! I learned so much and you can really get an up close view of the animals. You cannot touch them, but you get to watch them get fed. It is an amazing experience! I highly recommend!

You get a very up close view of the animals...but they are in cages & you cannot touch them. The staff are friendly & answer any questions you have. There are a lot of animals to see and our tour lasted a little over 2 hrs. You are not allowed to take videos or pictures. All in all, a great... More

Everyone likes to see wild animals, but when you can see them up close and you have knowledgeable tour guides who explain many aspects of their behavior, it is even better. I found it to be both fun and a good learning experience.

Loved this tour. The staff do a wonderful job Introducing the animals and telling the animals stories. You can tell they truly love these animals and share a bond, its not just a job. Many staff members are part of the tour and assist with different jobs along the way. Always felt safe. If you are planning a trip, this... More

I've been twice: once alone and once with neices. Both times I had a blast learning and seeing these animals up close. The kids liked feeding the goats too. Close to St Augustine and Jax

We went there early last year. It is a reserve for big cats, wolves, and many tropical birds. It was amazing to see how many of the lions, and tigers liked to play just as our small cats do. The wolves and panthers were fascinating. The animals are all rescued from circuses, traveling animal shows. movies, and small zoos. A... More

I went with my husband, 9 year old and an 11 month old infant. It was very nice to be up close with the animals but also feel safe because these trainers knew what they were doing. The trainers were all so nice, fun and professional. They spend time with the animals individually and play with them. The animals love... More
