The Beginning of Catholic Church in America

Beautiful and georgous shrine, where First Mass has been celebrated in America. A very nice and quiet place with a lot of grounds to walk around.

The recent hurricane damaged a bit of the site, but it is still worth a trip to see the museum. The docents are very helpful and informative. Hopefully the shrine will be opened up again soon!

A very nice mission, Quiet, serene, lots of grounds and areas to walk around and see the history. Some of the grounds look like they were under repair, but it still looked nice.

I took a way back machine visit to try and relive what it must have been to leave for no one knew and experience. There are many little areas to explore,

I mostly wanted to put in a warning that the Mission's main grounds are closed due to damage from Hurricane Mathew. I don't know about a re-opening date; but if you have the option, do postpone your visit to St. Aug until then. It would obviously be a very leisurely, serene and tranquil walk. Good stuff for the spirit. I'm... More

A must stop for everyone seeking love, beauty, tranquility. Whether or not you are religious it is a must do in St. Augustine. It costs nothing if yo are not refreshed and renewed you need a psychologist.

What a beautiful, peaceful place. The Mission is simply inspiring and they have a lovely gift shop as well where you can purchase a cancel to light. Be sure and allow time to enjoy.

Learn the true origin of Thanksgiving. Read the history. Pray for the hurricane damage to be repaired.

a tree fell on it. Very sad. much of the property off limits due to recent hurricane damage. Church and museum open. Gift shop flooded/too damaged. they've put in a temporary gift shop near museum. bridge moved during storm....docent said he thinks it'll all be up and running/open again by May? Hope so, such a peaceful, lovely property.

The people here are very friendly and are able to answer most questions you have. Hurricane Matthew left alot of damage here at the mission. You can't walk the grounds, but you can tour the museum. There is no charge, but donations are excepted.
