My 10th visit over the past 10 years and NEVER DISAPPOINTED. This is the ultimate venue to see live music, bar none. The place is historic and acoustically sound for LOUD HEAVY MUSIC. The staff is always personable and your bartender in the stage area is ON POINT (LOVE HER). Do yourself a favor and check out Daddy Kool records... More

Attended a political event here. This is an old theatre now used for concerts. There are no seats and it's a concrete floor. I wish they'd restore it like the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater; but that's the old lady in me. I realize this is a place where heavy metal bands play & there's a mosh pit.

My wife and I have seen many shows here. Great place. Nothing special. Its a cruddy show spot. Its been in St. Pete for a long time and always has great shows. Great size show spot. Downstairs is the mosh pit area for the youth. Upstairs is where the old folks like me hang out. Perfect size for a show.... More

So I went to the State Theatre to see Elle King. Before getting tickets for her show, I had never heard of this venue and I go to concerts often. For my first visit, I was not let down. It is an older venue but it adds to the atmosphere. It holds right around 700 people but they didn't seem... More

The theater looks like it's been preserved just the way it was when it was built a long time ago. The acoustic for a rock n roll concert is excellent. The stage is not tall, I'm only 5 feet tall (1.53m) and it didn't go up to my neck. The restrooms and the bar are good too.

This is a very nice small venue theater. We saw Clean Bandit there on March 26th. The venue hold a maximum of 700 people. It has a decent bar inside, limited seating (mostly standing room), and ample parking on the street. Our concert started at 7:00 pm so we were able to arrive at 6:00 pm and park right in... More

I have attended many indie band's concerts in many venues with our high school aged daughter, and the State Theatre was by far one of our favorites. The acoustics, the lights, the feel of the place was all very intimate and friendly. Every band felt like they were performing for us in our living room - really! They are THAT... More

This must have been the local movie theater years ago. Now, all the seats have been removed, leaving a few upholstered benches on one side and a few railings for leaning. When we arrived we lined up outside with the other patrons and waited; the doors opened only shortly before show time. The line moved quickly, though, once the doors... More

State Theater is a great venue for music & it is located in the heart of downtown St. Pete. ~ The layout is great for concerts. Really fun place to take in a show. It is well worn, but the bands are really close, the acoustics are okay, the sight lines seemed good from pretty much anywhere, and the bar turns out decent drinks at a not to ridiculous price. I've heard some bad things about the restrooms, but I didn't venture in there.
