We had a beautiful sunny day to explore the gardens and take time to appreciate the many different species of trees and plants. The location on the bay lends itself to sitting, listening, and enjoying the day. It was fascinating to see the preparations for the Orchid Ball that evening! Our Guide was knowledgeable and enjoyable.

The gardens are justly renowned with many orchids and tropical plants. Take a guided tour and you will learn much that you otherwise would miss.

an excellent experience for both adults and children of all ages. But very pricey especially for kids. AAA discount was a dollar off each ticket.

Lovely botanical garden on the water's edge of Sarasota Bay. The conservatory was packed with all different species of flowers and plants. Very well marked. Special Mark Chagall exhibit going on into June, 2017. Worth the visit.

Marie Shelby Botanical Gardens are beautiful, educational, and a great place to visit for all ages, from seniors to young children. We visit botanical gardens wherever we go. This one is truly outstanding. The variety of species, upkeep, location on the water's edge all combine to make visiting a lovely experience. We enjoyed the Marc Chagall exhibit both for the exhibit and opportunity to see the three originals and for the way the gardens and food choices were reflective of France.... More

We went to see the Chagall exhibit which is widely advertised. Signage for attractions, restaurants, bathrooms is primitive. The information kiosk in the garden is often empty and when the volunteer shows up, very little useful information is offered. The docent who explained the Chagall exhibit, while being a very nice lady, was incredibly poorly prepared to do a good... More

I have been to a number of gardens all over the world. This one was truly unique in many aspects. It is a calming place, right on the ocean. Lots of plants grow easily here in Florida, and the garden has taken full advantage of that fact. You will find many of the native flora and fauna here including: a... More

We have been coming to Sarasota in February for at least 15 years. One of the highlights each year is trip to the beautiful Selby Botanical Gardens. It is a place of natural beauty not to be missed. The Selby often has themed shows that add to the visitors' experience. Last year specialty was orchids. This year's heavily promoted theme... More
