We took a a few hours on a rainy Saturday to tour the Art and Circus museums. I have never seen such a comprehensive ode to the circus. What we thought would be a quick tour turned into a two hour visit. Truly entertaining.

For some reason, I had low expectations of this venue, and only allocated three hours for the visit. Fortunately, I loved this place and wished I'd been able to spend more time there. I'll be back for the Private Places tour and more time in other buildings.

I am a local and never tire of visiting the Ringling! Mondays are free to the public for the main museum.

Give yourself lots of time as it has the art museum as well as the circus museum. Lots of walking but they also have shuttles. Tour the mansion too. Been there 3 times now as would go again.

A must do in Sarasota. Visit, have lunch on the patio overlooking the bay. Their special attractions are great.

if you wish to walk the grounds. Take the tour...it's obligatory if you want a clown to lead you. O.K., just kidding around. The Ringling doesn't force you to do anything, but ENJOY! If you love the circus...come and visit. If you're not sure of what a circus is...come and look at the exhibits and you'll see what an undertaking... More

I found some of the early European art somewhat dark and depressing. There were several Rubens, a Tintoretto, a couple of Giordanos, etc. The more recent European and American work in the south wing was lively. The staff were engaging and helpful. The two rooms recreated from the old Astor place in New York were stunning. Strangely, the most memorable... More

We really like the Howard's Bros Circus mini rendition of the Ringling Circus. It is an unbelievable depiction of the original Ringling Bros logistics, and offers a great appreciation to the work that went in to run the circus. Great spot for kids, parents, grandparents and historians!

Circus Museum, the amazing museum and the lovely Ca' D'Zan building ( Great Expectations film? ) make this a spot to see. Yes, it is pricey but worth it.
