This is a rescue centre so you're not going for a facility with lots of extras, it's designed for the birds who live there and the humans visiting are secondary. That's just fine, and the personality and behaviour of many of the birds in the centre makes this a really interesting experience. You get a handout on the way in... More

What a wonderful place to view injured birds that are not able to be released back to their habitat. Place is run by a group of caring staff that has made the "homes" of these injuries birds as natural as they can. Staff has named many of the birds and treats them with much care and concern. This group also... More

Hard to find, but was glad I mede the effort. Sanctuary for unreleasable birds, so you get up close views and behaviors; what was surprising was the number of wild birds that congregate there - great looks at black crowned night herons, cattle egrets and pelicans nesting in the tree (at lease 17 nests in one tree!) Very small place,... More

See owls and sea birds up close in this unique place near the Mote Aquarium. On weekends you can almost touch them when they are brought out to meet the guests.

I was surprised at the assortment of birds - large and small - that I was able to see at such close range. I was also happy to know that I was helping to contribute money to the care and rehabilitation of injured birds.

Save Our Seabirds is on the same site as the Mote Aquarium, but is a separate non-profit organization (you do get a discount if you've been to the Mote on the same day). The seabirds on display have come to SOS for rescue and for one reason or other can't be released. The focus, is mainly on relatively common species,... More

We just happened to stumble onto this attraction while visiting the Mote area. You do get to see a wide variety of birds in the enclosures seem large, clean, and stimulating for these birds that generally cannot be released back into the wild.

This sanctuary provided for injured birds that can't make it in the wild is informative and a great way for an up close look at many different birds. Plus the service this organization does in rescuing, rehabbing (if possible) and releasing injured birds is excellent. We enjoyed and would recommend a visit to Save Our Seabirds.

As an animal lover I understand that they are trying to give these birds a home but the place looks more rundown and in need of better environments. A piece of paper is all they give you, tells you about the species but not the bird in the cage, as in why they are there, injured or just unable to... More

Many birds to see and talk with! Why they are there is unfortunate, but they are being taken care of and rehabilitated. You can choose to purchase a brick with a personal message that they will add to the grounds and the money goes towards keeping them open and helping birds in need! We purchased one last summer. There is... More
