What a great museum! The thing that is so fascinating about the human history of Florida is the fact that the state was only recently developed. This museum takes you down a path in chronilogical order. During our visit there was an outstanding exhibit by the fabulous photographer Clyde Butcher.

Learn Florida's history - from prehistoric times. Remarkable displays. Abundant written descriptions. Minimum of two hours. Could easily spend four hours. Appropriate for most children age of ten years upward. Excellent introductory film.

We didn't have a lot of time to just stroll thru this museum which was a mistake. It really has a lot to offer! And it is set up from the beginning to now. It's free and really worth the time and effort to visit!

We are not big history fans and there was nothing extraordinary here to turn us into ones. The museum is in the basement of a larger building and has the typical old silverware, cannon balls, boat pieces, etc. from Florida history. It could be a good field trip for students who are first learning about Florida.

I'm ashamed to say it took me too long to visit this museum. You can definitely spend a good three hours here. I hope they have more funding to put more of Florida's history on display. I was able to see how the artifacts are restored and recommend this as a must do if it is available on the day... More

What a lovely museum! We were greeted at the desk by friendly staff and given a guide sheet for the layout of the museum. Although they take donations, there is no fee and we were pleased to visit for free. Outside the museum is a fine display of bronze statues of Seminole Indians. There are Mastodon bones, dioramas and statues... More

The best way to get a sense of a state when your time is short is to visit their history museum, and this one did not disappoint. It was a discovery to me to find out how many nations claimed this land at one time or another. While it was very kid-friendly, with many interactive attractions, the chronology of the... More

We don't have kids but there were a lot of families visiting and I could definitely see how their exhibits would be great for the little ones. Lots of stuff you're allowed to touch and climb on! My husband and I enjoyed it, too. :)
