This lighthouse is on a National Wildlife Refuge, and is an impressive sight. Although the outside is relatively intact, the buildings are currently closed to visitors. Signage and handouts make it clear that they are working on the funding to restore the structure. However, if...More

This light house has been the subject of many local artists - and is found at the coast in the St Marks Wildlife Refuge - there are roads/trails that go on forever in this refuge. You can walk for many hours without seeing anyone. The...More

Screaming children kind of ruined the view though. The area is pretty and the beach rats were kind of cute. They seem to like sunflower seeds lol. Saw a ton of gators on the way in, so keep your kids away from the ponds...

Been to this site a few times and it never gets old. Drive slowly through the park and see a wide variety of Florida wildlife. DO NOT FORGET YOUR CAMERA! Awesome area for bird watching! The light house was amazing! Full of rich Florida history!...More

This is actually in Crawfordville, FL about 35 miles south of Tallahassee, FL. We went to the lighthouse and the reserve. Both are really the same. It was very interesting. You can do as little or as much walking as you like.

This is about a 40-45 minute drive from downtown Tallahassee. It's a beautiful setting, lots of water everywhere, tons of birds and great views. The history is interesting, especially the Civil War connection. The lighthouse is nice to look at but that's all you can...More

A visit to the Saint Marks Lighthouse is like a trip back in time. There is a plaque outside the lighthouse that details it's amazing history. History like the time the Confederates removed and hid the giant mirror in the swamp to keep it out...More

The location of this lighthouse provides great opportunities to watch nature in conjunction with seeing the light. The only drawback is you can't climb the light. It likes like it would provide a breathtaking sight of the wildlife reserve as well as the water. As...More

The road is paved, but the parking lot and trails at the lighthouse are packed shell, gravel, and dirt. If the root of your question is in reference to handicap accessibility, I would say yes it is accessible, but limited... More
